It’s been reported pretty widely even before the recent news that he likes New York and that’s why he has been rehabbing there.

Anytime a player is on the move, the whole lakers fan base always assume that their heart is only set on the Lakers. Kawhi is gonna go to a big market, NY, LA, Miami, Boston or Chicago. Cleveland is an outside chance if Lebron stays there.

To be fair, Ramona said on Around the Horn today that Kawhi has been rehabbing in San Diego too. So there’s that. And, not that it matters, but even Woody Paige (Denver Nuggets writer) said on the same segment that the Lakers can offer the best package of players for Kawhi. Jewelry Hill also agreed that Kawhi holds all the leverage, and it “feels destined that Kawhi ends up a Laker”. Ramona then went on to say (when asked) that no, the Spurs can’t get equal value for Kawhi, because he’s a 1 year rental coming off that injury. Not gonna happen. Only teamd gonna take a real chance are those that believes they can re-sign him, and she mentioned both the Lakers and Clippers.

    WOW. What does Vegas know?

Those odds are wildly in our favor. And to have Boston so low... I've heard all day Boston COULD put together a big package, but most seem to think they WONT.

I'm trying to temper my expectations after all the fun, but these odds are veeeeery interesting. Coupled with our wild rise in the championship standings, it feels like Vegas knows something we dont.

It's because they know he wants to be a Laker and feel he'll just tell those other teams he won't sign an extension so you're just gonna rent him while giving up assets when his heart or mind isn't in it?...

Svtzr said oh people like always are assuming he wants to be a Laker only... Well I've never felt that way but I sure as hell have with George and now Kawhi. We've all seen the smoke with Kawhi for so long now! Once again it was quite easy to put the puzzle together imo.

Woj doesn't know s*** either... Sounding foolish if you're a true basketball fan, by saying the Spurs haven't given up and comparing the Aldridge situation... This s*** is way different than Aldridge. Kawhi PURPOSELY avoided playing. Cmon let's not front ourselves that he's damaged goods or WAS that seriously hurt, especially by playoff time.

I'm always hoping for the best and prepared for the worst real. This is a George 2.0 situation for me.

The more i think about all this, the more my dream scenario doesnt involve Lebron. It involves us trading all our young pieces except Kuzma and ending up with Lillard, PG, Kawhi and Kuz as our foundation with about 14 million in cap space left over after cap holds. Use that 14 milion to maybe split between Favors and Napier. Use the room exception on Lopez.

    agreed

the only issue with him going to a team like NY is whether or not he's willing to commit to an extension. like i mentioned earlier, if he's dealt to boston he's not going to up and leave after a season because they are a title contender. the only way LA should even consider trading for him is if he 100% agrees to an extension. if not, don't even bother

there can be all these reports about him "having his eyes on LA" but the only way i'll believe it is once I see him in the p&g and he's agreed to an extension. we don't need another dwight scenario

Wow, had a lot of catching up to do.

    Quick thoughts....
    1. If we are getting George and Leonard, Ingram is the one that needs to be traded first. I love the kid but there's just too much redundancy between those 3 wings.
    2. We absolutely don't need Lebron. His fit is questionable with those 2 players. (ie OKC 2.0)
    3. I'd go after Randle and/or Capela instead of LLLLLL, and we'd have the best switch-everything defense in the league.

The more I think about the more it seems like this s*** is going to cost us Randle, without Leonard coming.

Spurs are not going to rush the trade, if at all. We have to keep the pieces or cap space for all this hoopla. Randle is going to get antsy and sign an offer sheet and we won't be able to much out of fear we miss out on Kawhi.

I like Randle, but cmon. If its Randle or Capela vs Lebron, you take Lebron.

Hmm? George was a Thunder last season. Westbrook is like a mini-Lebron. Lebron, George, Kawhi all need the ball to be effective. More talent isn't always a good problem to have.

Kawhi nor George need the ball to be effective imo. More so Kawhi if you wanna get technical.

Well technically you can have them both for approximately the same price as LLLLL. With George and Leonard on the roster, I'm taking a 23-27 year old Randle/Capela over a 34-38 year old Lebron.

I disagree, from watching the Thunder games this season.

Sorry to be a technical Nancy but Randle and Capela would cost atleast over 40 mill combined. Believe lebrons max is like 35.

I don’t agree with this. LeBron is the best player in the NBA. You put any any halfway competent C and a vet min pg (if not Lonzo) next to George, Kawhi, and LeBron, and that team is right there with GS as best in the NBA. Same can’t be said of George, Kawhi, and Randle or Capela.

lakers aren't going to rush it either. they need to be sure of quite a few important details before even thinking about making a move

kawhi's injury, his willingness to sign an extension and to even play in LA in the first place, and which of the kids they're willing to trade

No worries, but I did say approximately.
