Capela had Har'en and a one footed Cp3 in front of him and took those guys to 7 games and a 3-2 lead. Gobert didn't face the Dubs in the playoffs, but give him something other than Rubio and a rookie. Give AD some stars in front of him to take on the dubs in the postseason. If you give a legit rim protector, Bron and Pg on the perimeter... I'm sorry, the Dubs never seen that before. Bring the big man and defense back! Why are we trying to play the dubs game. Make it uncomfortable and make them play ours. I know Luke is a dubs import, but he wants a defensive big man...from Mosgov to Bogut to encouraging 8% to step up. Give Luke that resource with Bron, PG and either Zo or BI on the perimeter and make the Dubs try to match up to us!
Like I said, we match up with them with the death lineup. There's a reason I advocated trying to throw our 13 million in cap space at DJ. I'm not trying to change the world. The death lineup isn't feasible over the course of a season and that includes Julius. Playing Center full time would be too much strain on a small Center. Having a big who can run the floor and be effective at both rims will be critical to our success.
hou didnt get to 7 cause of capela, he was mostly sub out when gsw went to their "hampton 5" lineup n also the hack-a-capela also forced him out, gsw will do the same thing to every one with good centers...gobert faced gsw last yr n steph made him look foolish, adams faced gsw l with durant/westbrook n still wasnt bothered by adams
D'antoni is coach...not the most patient dude in seeing how a defense pans out. Harden is no defensive dynamo. CP3 did his thing with Capela and they got a 3-2 lead on the Dubs. The Dubs trounced the western conference last postseason but lost a game to Bron and the defensive dynamo known as Love. Give a legit rim protector (Rudy, Embiid, AD, DJ, Whiteside, whomever) Lebron freaking James and a perimeter hound like PG....I'll take my chances with their hampton 5.
It’s not that simple when they play 5 out of the paint. It drags your rim protector out to the 3 point line and makes them worth a lot less. And if you don’t follow draymond out, he just sets a screen for Steph who gets an open 3 every time down the court because your C is camping out in the paint.
Live by the 3 and die... Like I said, I would take my chances. Yall have made this dubs team way much scarier than they really are. Give them a legit contender/rivalry and alot of those chinks get revealed...it really is that easy.
They are due for one. And really, they probably lose the Houston series if Paul doesn’t go down, because he was on a tear, and GS kept f****** around. They shouldn’t be feared anymore, teams should be gunning for them. This is when championship fatigue sets in. Sure it’s only Durant’s 2nd trip and win, but the rest of the guys have been to 4 in a row. Teams don’t really go to 5, LeBron left Miami to keep his Finals streak going, because that team was running on fumes. It’s simiar with the Warriors, their bench continues to get worse as the main guys need to get paid, Iggy isn’t getting any younger, Klay, Curry, and Green will be trying for a 5th Finals in a row, and that is where the wear and tear sets in. Even Shaq and Kobe faltered in attempt #4 and then got beat by a hungrier team in Detroit the next season. Houston isn’t going anywhere, and if we assemble the team we are hoping for around here, imo we’ll be right there as a threat as well. Dynasties don’t last a decade anymore, the days or the 80’s Lakers are over.
I know he's a RFA and I'm not saying we really should go after him instead. Just was adding an example as to why Jordan would be a terrible fit and there are other options if we're that desperate for someone with that kind of game. Summary/My Point: Give me Brook and Randle again and I'll be just fine with that to go with LBJ and PG.
The thing I want to get to see is the potential damage Jules could cause in a playoff series. In a league lacking the big powerful bangers, Jules could be a potential problem. Much like Artest's effect on guarding a particular person over a series, you really have to take into consideration what Jules could do towards softening a team's insides over several games. With a team like ours that likes to take it to the hoop it would really help a playoff series. Of all our youth he is the one that's ready to contribute in the playoffs. I hope we figure out a way to keep him much as I hate to say farewell to a Kuz for instance.
We'll just have to agree to disagree. I've never heard of a team saying we need to "open the floor wildly" so lets go with DeAndre Jordan. It worked at times with Golden State with Mcgee out there but Mcgee also isn't going to get paid what it would take to get Jordan on this team. McGee also was able to move his feet quite well be it in short stints against LBJ when switched on him during the Finals. I'm not advocating to play Randle at the 5 all year also. I do agree with you on that is something not real feasible long term.
I like Julius a lot and I hope you all are right. I don't agree, but I hope you're right about him being the answer. If you're right, I hope George and LeBron agree.
I'm a fan of keeping Randle, so factor that in to what I'm about to say. You didn't just compare Javale McGee with DeAndre Jordan as if they were even in the same general category did you?
If we're talking about there ability to move their feet on the perimeter, than yes. Both those price tags of McGee vs. Jordan. Give me McGee If you asked Golden State if they would have rather had Jordan or McGee out there in what they wanted out of both those players I honestly don't think they'd care if it was McGee or Jordan. GSW wants players that can move their feet on defense when switching or if they get switched on the perimeter. On offense they want that kind of player to be able to slip the pick & roll or at least a threat. Jordan & McGee both are great at this. If we're talking about sheer shot blocking ability down low of course DJ is better, duh... I keep talking about the Warriors because I believe we'd want to use a center like that if we had one. I'm not advocating we do that though. Brook did the kind of job I want our center to be doing if its not Randle with a Lonzo, Ingram, PG, Lebron lineup. Space the floor with shooting at the 5 spot and be a shot blocker, help defender if the other four players get beat off the dribble.
DeAndre isn't what he used to be defensively. It's actually quite alarming how much he's regressed. Do Not Want.
I'd like to as well. I don't want to see Kuz go either. He's dynamite and he's on a rookie salary. Keep Randle, keep Lopez ditch Deng. Rinse and repeat.
Can we stop discussing a CLIPPERS player in Randle's discussion thread please? I don't want that BUM on our team and I'd much rather stick with Randle than go after DJ who will likely go for an expensive deal. Like someone else said...he has severely regressed on the defensive end this past year. Definitely do not want.
I get where you are coming from for sure. I just can't say I agree that randle "needs" to be a floor spacer for either of them. Like I said neither Lebron nor PG live in the paint. Randle fills a void that Lebron himself is often having to play on his teams. Randle gets in the paint, he runs the floor and he punishes defenders having to slow him down. I personally think he (randle) would be more valuable to the PG/Bron duo than Ball would be like some have suggested.
Since free agency is going to be warming up with draft night roughly a week away, here's some primer on Jules... Btw, Jules definitely held his own at the 5 spot this year, but still, if the option is there to get a legit rim protector you have to try to go get him. Also, Coon believes Jules @15-16M is about his market value. Take that to the bank all you #PayJules folk haha.
