i think this schmitz guy is same guy from orl or mia that shaq called out for not giving him an mvp back in the day and it wouldve make shaq the 1st unanimous mvp guy....i saw bits n pieces of a shaq special on laker channel
I don't know if that's the same Schmitz. This guy is the one that started DraftExpress. I actually really respect his opinion and the amount of work he (used to) put in to his craft. Now though, he sold out to ESPN and he has to do the song and dance with idiots like Pelton. Schmitz's work on ESPN has been tepid at best and is missing nearly all the great content he put out for so long.
He missed his senior year. Dude was so smart he did it in 3 years. Or he missed sophomore or junior year.
i tweeted that pelton guy on his rookie rankings...he responded by saying Issac showed more advance metrics especially on D thats more favoree toward winning gms n that Issac was already one of his fav prospects entering the draft....so poor Kuzzzz, no D no likey lol
man i wish we'd do a chinese new yr theme with our gold like gsw, considering la n socal in general has as big a chinese population as sf
So how many sports talk shows has Jonathan Isaac been in the past month? I hope they are all in order.
1. When you play just 536 minutes on the season, the numbers can easily be misconstrued as there's just not enough actual data to analyze. Kuzma played nearly 4.5 times as much as Isaac, so of course more of his flaws are going to show through. That's simple. Even a dullard can understand that, let alone a guy who claims to be an expert. 2. Isaac's Drtg is at 104 which is actually solid, but he played just 20 minutes per game in 27 games, starting only 10 of them. His Drtg as a starter is actually an impressive 99, but of course he played just 231 minutes as a starter. Kuzma played over 1300 minutes as a starter and his Drtg is of course not great at 111. HOWEVER Isaac's Ortg is an abysmal, horrifying 84 as a starter. Kuzma's is a rock-solid 105 which is actually very good for a rookie. So in the scheme of things, which is actually more impressive? A net rating of -6 from Kuzma? Or a net rating of -15 for Isaac? 3. Isaac also has a strong edge in Defensive Box Plus/Minus where he is a fantastic +3.1 overall. Kuzma's Defensive Box Plus/Minus is just -1.0 which obviously isn't great, but isn't surprising for a rookie. HOWEVER Isaac's Ortg is a shockingly awful -4.9 while Kuzma's is a -0.3. What that means is Isaac is on average a terrific defender, but a sickeningly bad offensive player. He's roughly 3.1 points ahead of the average defensively, but almost 5 points worse than average offensively. Meanwhile, Kuzma is just about average in both respects which is fantastic for a rookie playing heavy minutes. For reference, the darling Jayson Tatum has a Box Plus/Minus of 1.0 with -0.5 Offensive and 1.5 defensive win shares respectively. 4. Actually let's skip 4 because Kuzma has a Defensive Win Share of 2.3 while Isaac has a Defensive Win Share of 0.8. 5. Kuzma leads Isaac in almost every single recorded category. Win Shares: Kuzma (3.8) vs. Isaac (0.2) TRB%: Kuzma (10.7) vs. Isaac (10.2) AST%: Kuzma (9.8) vs. Isaac (4.8) PER: Kuzma (14.2) vs. Isaac (9.8) TS%: Kuzma (54.9) vs. Isaac (46.5) TOV%: Kuzma (11) vs. Isaac (14.8) USG%: Kuzma (22.5) vs. Isaac (15) VORP: Kuzma (0.4) vs. Isaac (0) Points: Kuzma Points per game: Kuzma Points per 36m: Kuzma Assists: Kuzma Assists per game: Kuzma Assists per 36m: Kuzma FG%: Kuzma 3PT%: Kuzma Which by the way Kuzma should trail in most of those since the sample size is so small, Isaac should shine. The only place Isaac edges Kuzma is per36 defensive stats and rim protection which, let's be honest, is one of Kuzma's weakest traits. Isaac compares more to Zubac than he does Kuzma. Isaac: 5.4 points, 3.7 rebounds, 0.7 assists, 1.2 steals, 1.1 blocks, 19.9 mpg Zubac: 3.7 points, 2.9 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 0.2 steals, 0.3 blocks, 9.5 mpg Isaac per36: 9.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 2.2 steals, 2.0 blocks Zubac per36: 14.1 points, 10.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 0.7 steals, 1.3 blocks Zubac had more points, rebounds, and assists than Isaac with 146 less minutes. F*** Pelton. The guy is a hack and shouldn't be taken seriously.
Alrighty Kuz, enough talking and touring, Hit that gym with JR because the streets are watching your development next season.
