I still don't understand on what planet 10/7/7/1.7 is mediocre when only two other players in the history of the NBA have done it.

    1. It doesn't matter how many have done it...the game is inflated with triple doubles these days because of the 3 ball....

    2. Lonzo struggled all year with injuries, with aggressiveness and with shooting the basketball. Since when do we judge a player solely on stats?

No matter how you slice it...shooting 45% from the FT line as a PG is pretty atrocious.

    1. "It doesn't matter" is a s*** argument made when there's not enough valuable counters to make a real argument.

    2. He sure did spend a lot of time on the bench. What does that have to do with how he played on the court? I'm judging a player based off of what I watched which is supported by the statistics. Your argument is based off of what exactly?

    3. I never made an excuse for that. His FT% (and overall efficiency) needs a ton of work. Most of that is due to his 19-20 year old body being made up of old chewing gum and glass. The kid needs to toughen up, I've never said differently. And yes he also needs to be more aggressive, I've said that too.

Ben Simmons statline yesterday was atrocious. 1 point, 5 boards, 7 assists on 0/4 shooting, no 3 point attempts (although that’s normal for him).

Reminded me of one of Lonzo’s bad games. The difference is that typically when Lonzo has a game like that, he’s still like 1 for 7 from 3 point line. He’ll keep shooting if he’s open even when he’s off.

Some might think that’s a bad thing, but I like that attitude more than whatever attitude made Simmons scared to shoot at all.

And yeah, it’s probably petty to relish in the poor performance of an amazing rookie just to make myself feel better about our rookie ... but I don’t really care. :D

Petty is fine. This guy has had the big head since day one and he has a HUGE hole in his game. He's not even at square one with medium to longer Js since he doesn't shoot them at all.

Lonzo has superstar potential. What needs to be done ASAP? Get to the gym, start eating real food and toughen up, man. The kid is as weak and brittle as it gets. For now. Fix that and most other problems will go away.

The ability of AVAILability is just as important as any other stat. Missing 30 games probably meant at least 5 less wins. That's 40 wins. That's 14 more than the previous year, and and and.....

So with that, the irritation of missed games becomes more apparent.

Lonzo has an NBA body. He needs to start nurturing it the right way and maybe grow some bigger nuts and learn to play with some aches.

Same with Skinny Pete Ingram. If those guys play all 82, maybe the Lakers make the playoffs. Who knows. We will never know.

Agree. Half of success in life is showing up. If you can't play, you're no use. Ball is brittle. That has to change. I'm not worried about other areas of his game.

Missing 30 effing games is inexcusable when most of the other NBA rookies played a full season + the playoffs (Tatum Mitchell Simmons OG etc).

He badly needs to get stronger. Otherwise it's not going to matter how amazing he is if he ain't on the court!

Lonzo's and Ingram's defense is actually impressive considering how skinny they are. Good instincts and high IQ I guess. But they can do so much more once they start nurturing those bodies properly.

It’s hard to judge a player on his injury in terms of whether they should be playing or not even though it did seem like he could have played a little more. But easy for me to judge while consuming brew and nachos on the couch. I would expect the team to push him to play if they thought he were dogging it, maybe a little sneak diss here and there in the press ala Phil Jackson style. But, I don’t recall that happening. I would be concerned if they did push him to play, but he refused. Sort of like the Kawhi Leornard situation, though not exact.

In Ingram's defense, he did start nurturing last offseason. I expect him to make another big leap forward this offseason. Lonzo was on the Big Baller Brand workout routine. As long as he listens to the trainers and does as he's told, the difference between a professional training regimen and whatever "Rocky in Siberia" training Lavar came up with is going to be night and day. And he has 4 1/2 months to do it. At 39 I lost about 17 pounds of fat and added around 6 pounds of muscle with just eating a little bit better and going to the gym 3 times a week. I can't imagine what a 20 year old could do with all those tools at his disposal.

The difference in testosterone levels should be enough to make some difference by itself. :). But yeah, I agree with everything you wrote.

But how much could @Big Mamma Jamma lose if he were on a good program?

I can’t help it, but now I envision Grandmama when I see his name. You guys are so wrong!

LOL!!! I love Larry Johnson and have now changed my avi.

Sirron, you would be proud of me... I've actually lost 23 lbs on a good program of my own creation!

A little background... so, when my family and I were living in NY, my wife started calling me "Chubby Hubby". At the end of 2016, I was recruited by a public company to be one of their executives and be based in SoCal. I've been away from California for 22 years so my family and I were excited to return. I made a promise to my wife that once we moved back home to Cali that I would get in shape. I began in August last year and have lost 23 lbs but added muscle. I did it through free weights and intermittent fasting.

    Now, at 6'3" I'm a svelte 217 with a 32 inch waist!
