I hate to be pessimistic but I don’t think PG is coming here, which will open to door to IT if we finish the season well with the way the chemistry has been developing.
You never know. Something tells me he'd love to stay, and we might end up in the situation where we do want him on a 1-year deal + option. In the meantime, he's playing very hard, plays a very important role for us and is not complaining about anything. I just love what he brings to the team.
Thomas is rounding into form and playing the way I hoped he would. Don’t know his future here but I like him and can’t help but root for him.
He's turning around my opinion of him all the way. I didn't want him but Magic and Pelinka knew what they were doing.
I was skeptical of how Thomas will mesh with our team play that emphasizes ball movement and cutting. Those along with his defensive liabilities. He does add another facilitator on the court. Thomas has built a rapport with our bigs (Lopez and Zubac). More importantly, he is now our best free throw shooter.
Although Randle did go 9 for 9 from the line tonight! Even better than IT from the stripe this evening.
Thomas had something like 38 straight makes at the stripe. Did not want to jinx it by discussing it. 1 for 2 tonight so it's history. Zubac is 4 for 4.
How about Randle at the stripe since 3 games ago when he missed all 5 and stayed after shooting FTs before showering to get his head right? :JuliusPumped 1:
Honestly, IT is better than Clarkson. He is just flat out better. I was worried after the trade but not anymore. IT also helps us with shooting 3s and FTs and he is just a better playmaker than JC. Ya his D stinks but so did for the most part Clarkson's D.
that trade...... I'm not sold on IT being an every day starter on a championship team even if healthy, but if he was willing to play the Iguadala role for us, I would definitely consider it. His production plus penetration, plus single handedly making Zubac worth something is huge for us.
None of the pundits believe that the Lakers will try to resign IT, but I hope somehow we can. The Lakers are the only team I follow. In fact I only look to watch a few players, IT was always one of them. I marvel at a 5’9” player being able to compete at that level amongst the giants.
If he plays more like last night for rest of season itll be hard for mgmt not to find a way to keep him. He has shown some team loyalty when he helped recruit horford/hayward
Not if they're hell bent to bring LBJ here after their time together in Cleveland went south plus the money it would tie up before they give FA their max shot. If no PG or LBJ then yeah a short contract for IT if he continues back to the player he was.
What I love about our current disposition is that we now have options and a contingency. Something we did not have last summer. Our FO is killing it and I have a huge problem with fans thinking they failed if the #2018plan doesn't come up roses. We've changed the culture and with the absolute worst case scenario that we strike out this summer, we still can bring back IT on a balloon stop gap contract to become players in 2019. Think about it, IT is a better 6th man than JC. We lost some defense with Lance, but that just opened up more minutes for Jules/Zu. And we got a freaking 1st round pick out of it when you can argue that IT was probably the best player compared to all the players that were involved in the 3 Cavs deals.
