I know someone very close to the family and that has not been what I heard literally this morning. I'm pretty sure that's just gossip, but we'll see I guess. I do know that there was massive pressure from BBB for Lonzo's gf to not have this baby. The pressure came mostly from the people around Lonzo, not from Lonzo himself. They view this as a trap even though she's been with him since before he went to UCLA. Lonzo doesn't necessarily feel that way, but he's surrounded by people who do and those are the people on social media saying things like "free man".

Active hands and aggressive defense...Zo is making me a believer on the defensive end. Even on Wade, great D but just a crazy fadeaway and you can live with that type of shot. Also y'all notice how he doesn't jump into (ie catapult) his 3 point shot anymore? So happy that he worked on his shot. Keep at it kidd

I did not express myself clearly. Want I meant is that I did not have to look at the box score at all. He looked great out there, meaning he "passed the eye test" regardless of his numbers.
It was amazing to see this narrative spread before the draft. I remember watching the tape on him and thinking "okay he'll have some issues in man defense, but his instincts are solid". Then 2-3 talking heads say something about his defense and suddenly he's not athletic and can't defend. It was weird to me. His shooting is coming around much faster than I was expecting though.
Good point karacha. Yeah, the thing that really irritated me most about all the pundits early this season is that it was so obvious from their talk (Stephen A Smith particularly) that they weren't even watching the games. They were ONLY going by the box scores. If you watch the games you cannot help but see what Lonzo does for the team - pushing the ball, increasing the pace, with great ball movement. The ball moves more when he's out there beyond his own assists - his passing and unselfishness is contagious and guys want to share it more when he's on the court. This is why he was brought here. It was never about scoring points. The talk about him not being "aggressive" enough was garbage as well. It's not about that. It's about being the floor leader which he has been all year long. We're so much better with him than without him. I'm a Bruin so I watched him in college, but even for me I have to say his defense in the NBA has been something of a revelation. He didn't hang his hat on that at UCLA, but man is he D-ing it up for us now.
