I’m not too concerned about a 2018 plan becoming a 2019 plan. Our core is very promising and at some point will be good enough to make the playoffs in their own. And you have to think that one of them will be a solid All Star.

Yeah and the more I think about it, the more I think the timing of this article is extremely suspicious. I'm not saying it's untrue, but the timing is certainly not a coincidence. The reality is the Lakers aren't in a rush to move guys right now and the market for our guys is probably deflated as teams assume we're all in on the FAs (I still believe we will be come summer time, but we'll have contingencies in place). We're playing well, things are going nicely, these young guys are winning. What's the rush? We'll still make pitches this summer and if things come together, we'll make those moves. It'll be tough seeing us winning 35 games again next year, but I hope people are prepared for that.

And I agree: watching LeBron's suitors dry up is interesting. He's been actively burning his bridges in Cleveland. Does he waste another year there? Does he make a move anyway? Cleveland certainly isn't going to help him if he has nowhere to threaten them with.

Nothing is set in stone. This could all be part of the trade game. You know, lowkeyly tampering PG without actually having to pay 500k this time.

I'm still at let them finish the f****** season. Don't blow it up at the deadline. How bout that before you keep on and on about what they said when the landscape certainly looked different from what they were being told while we were tampering. Sorry this s*** is not forever etched in stone with the "plan" they laid out for you at the time.

Fine you can look at it that way as to what is actually happening with Magic and Rob running things and choose to be miserable and pissed off. It's what you do most of the time.

Or you could read this and realize maybe they're not telling you everything. Maybe some poker playing going on? How about that? It is possible.

Sure. Jim may have been in the middle of an after-flop bid when he got canned.

Point is, the backtracking is worrisome. Not because they can’t land 2FAs, but because it shows a lack of a proper plan.

You don’t come out of the gate promising s***, only to temper the expectations mid-flight if you planned for it.

I think that’s mostly Magic running his stupid mouth and Rob having no choice but to follow along.

Now Rob is the one doing damage control and/or setting smoke screens (whichever you choose to believe). Magic is silent.

Well, some of us didn’t have much expectations of him to begin with, so for us it seems like a sign.

    We’ll see.

I still don’t see the problem. If your plan needs to be modified then you just adjust. That is one of the golden lessons of life. Those that can’t adjust and would rather spend their time complaining usually get rolled and left behind. A few comments:
    • Magic/Manna haven’t been in their positions for even 1 year. In my view you are holding them to the failure and disappointment from the previous regime;
    • Based on what was inherited, they’ve done a very good job, and they have a team that will be good with more experience. I don’t think that’s stretch to see that.
    • Imagine if Magic didn’t inherit Mosgov and Deng...
And I will say with confidence that PG is coming to the Lakers for the 2018 season. If he doesn't, then he would lose out on a golden opportunity.

This team, franchise, and City, are ripe for someone to come in and claim it. This is not a couple years ago. It would be great if a local like PG does it.

well see what happens, as stated i dont appreciate the back tracking n you're giving rob/magic to much credit for their "poker face"...where was this poker face when they kept on blabbing bout how much cap space they planed to have for 2018?

Pretty much what I'm thinking too although I don't think it's an empty threat either for the Lakers to punt. I just think they're waiting for a specific offer and haven't gotten it yet.

That being said, this agrees with me: what does LeBron do this summer? He's been blow-torching his bridges and he's running out of FA teams to threaten the Cavs with. The Lakers will certainly pitch him and we may end up being his best FA landing spot, especially if the Cavs chase him out.

they deserve credit for these other moves, my complaint is the bs 20XX plans, it is the same then as it is now, only difference is magic/rob likely wont mozdeng...theres nothing to complain bout had they not made thise proclamations, its no different then Jimbo "we're contenders in 5yr" statement

    Good post @Jaguar

Honestly I'm confused as to why anyone would think George is signing elsewhere. It seems people have forgotten that George wanted to join us just 6 months ago, even after a 26-win season. We're still the frontrunner to sign him.

Because he's now on a better team with some chemistry. Why would he want to step back? The only way we have a shot I think is if we find a way to close the gap with the Thunder, but that'll take sustained excellence from this young group.
