The sky's the limit for this kid. Imagine if/when he adds just these two offensive skill sets: -A a two dribble pull-up from midrange from the pnr. -A post game vs smaller pgs. Where did Magic get a lot of his half court assists? He posted up and either scored himself or cut the defense apart with passing when the double team came.
Not a good shooting game, but good things happen when the offense goes through him. That last basket was created because he attacked and drew the defense in. Just like when BI got that last second 3 that other game.
I don’t know if it’s intended with their offense, but he needs to come get the ball more. Most times he barely touches the ball on offiense. Especially when JC and Randle over dribble, it would be nice to see Zo get that ball and make something happen.
JC was hot the the last 8-9 minutes, they were working through him. Zo’s actually been better off ball, with Ingram initiating at least.
Headline of this video, “Lonzo misses chance to win game for Lakers”. LONZO misses chance. You can feel the hate through the screen.
I only was able to really watch the fourth quarter and OT, but one thing that really stood out to me was JC at point. Like towards the end of the game, he was the one bringing the ball up the court and initiating the offense. It seemed to start with Lonzo bringing the ball up and then deferring to Clarkson. And then Lonzo giving it up early in the backcourt after defensive rebounds. And then by the end it felt like the whole team was going to JC after any board or inbounds. Clarkson was balling so it mostly worked, but still felt pretty strange. Almost felt like Lonzo intentionally set that in motion to feed Clarkson’s confidence. If so, the short-sighted outlook is that I would’ve wanted Lonzo to be a little less deferential. But overall that’d be a great demonstration of Lonzo’s leadership and ability to subtly control the floor without necessarily racking up assists. Of course maybe that was just by design or I might even be completely overstating the extent to which we were going to JC. Did anyone else notice this?
Just saw the highlights by @CaCHooKa Man and I have been wondering about that JC-JR two-man game for most of the season which stops the team's overall ball movement. When Lonzo's not in the game and they do it, I'm not really excited about it, especially when JC's shots are not falling. But with your observation, when Zo himself is letting it roll when he decides to and feels it's the right decision at that point in time, I just tend to put trust into it. That's Zo for ya...
In Zo We Trust, better feel for the game than anyone in the team, including coaches, probably Top 3 in the NBA in that respect
I was talking about JC bringing up the ball in the fourth quarter on the game thread. I think this was by Luke’s design. Zo played 43 minutes and I think Luke wanted him to save his energy. Zo was more involved it seemed in OT. It worked this time but JC dribbling the ball under pressure can go sideways quickly.
Zo really needs Ingram out there, it gives him someone else who can initiate well and Zo can play off ball. GTFO of here with the Zo missed the game winner.
this team just can't catch a break with injuries i really hope zo doesn't turn out to be injury prone but unfortunately it looks like he might be
