There has to be a trade scenario they have in mind & just want him to stay fresh.
Nothing else really makes sense. He is playing his best BBall right now.

Well what does he expect when he chucks like no other against Memphis and misses 3 of those 5 shots? Go ask Kuzma what that's like. Oh wait.

If I was Randle I'd ask to be traded. You spent summer getting shredded like Magic wanted just to get tugged around during the season.

Before the seaso started there was an article that said his agent and management have an understanding in regards to his contract. Wonder if being screwed out of playing time was part of that.

Was just about to post this one.

And yeah, I'd like it if we can bring this thing to a close and make a trade. I think that bridge is burned and can't see Randle coming back.

Randle treatment is atrocious, wouldn't surprise me if his agent tell pg to avoid us over this randle treatment

Yeah if our plan is to get PG13...we're not doing a very good job of it. We're overplaying KCP (same agent as LeBron) but somehow we're finding every excuse to not play Randle (same agent as PG13).

    I just don't get it.

if we're trying to trade him, wouldn't it be wiser to give him more minutes and inflate his value with volume? this seems counter-productive. Not only negating his value but also giving him reasons to be disgruntled then his agent gets involved

The exact opposite is true. Randle's value is greater now than it's been maybe since the moment we drafted him. His advanced numbers are through the roof.

does every gm go by advance stats? Limiting his minutes would also give opposing GM reasons to question why does someone with such good advance stats not get the minutes?

At this point, it is fairly obvious that we are going to trade Julius; I do agree with real - Randle's value is high, hopefully we can make this work for everybody. He deserves to be in a good situation (and the $$, of course), and we need to get a star player. I would like him to be put in a situation to succeed, one way or another.

Of course, but not knowing whether he can excel in big minutes is better than knowing he can't. The logic is sound from the FO perspective, it's just a bummer for Julius and not a good way to treat a player.

I don't think we should be trading him unless we know FOR SURE that LeBron or PG or Cousins or 2 of the 3 are coming. I think it's shortsighted and we'll be kicking ourselves if we let him go. We got VERY LUCKY with the D-Lo trade in getting Kuzma otherwise that trade would be a disaster (and tbh, we coulda still drafted Kuz at 28 and kept D-Lo but we won't go into that right now it'll just frustrate me)

Randle is/will get more and more disgruntled as season goes on, its only a matter of time. Wont be good for the locker room either.

I don't blame him. That's the coach/FO fault though, not his. He did exactly what was asked of him.

I don’t understand why people always leave the name Mozgov out looking back on the Russ trade. We didn’t trade Russ for the 27th pick, Russ was the price we had to pay to get rid of Mozgov, and we got a huge expiring in Brook Lopez back plus the 27th. It isn’t a bad trade, especially as Russ continues to sit with knee issues.

As for Randle, I agree it’s not a good idea to trade him without having stars in hand, but I think the damage is done. I have no idea why he’d want to stay here if this is the role he’s going to be given. He did what the FO asked, he got in incredible shape to play fast paced, he improved his shooting, his defense has been amazing most nights, and yet he plays 11 mins some games. The FO clearly doesn’t want him, and if they do hang onto him, strike out on all FA’s, and try and re-sign him, the only way I see him staying is for big money.

If we have scenario in which we are somehow able to unload Deng because someone really wants Randle, I would have to assume that the lack of minutes is in order to keep him healthy.

Otherwise, either there’s something we don’t know in the locker room, or it’s just Luke jobbing him.

I'll say this, Jules is the man. He's working hard, he's playing hard, he keeps his mouth shut. Wish all the best for him and his family. I hope he drops 30 everytime he plays us and gets at least one tech a game.
