I know he likes Bogut and Bogut is tough and we needed some toughness, but that was just a terrible decision to throw him in there with players he doesn't usually play with after coming off of missing 3 games or so. Especially with how Randle had been playing. Just a dumb move, no question about it.
Overall I think Bogut being on the team is a good idea. His experience and wiling bless to do the dirty work is there and this team needs it. Plus Nance will probably learn a lot form him as far as defense and setting screens.
He's been almost exactly as advertised: defensive energy, rebounding, and tough screens. He's been a somewhat disappointing offensive player, but there's a reason he came for the minimum.
thought bogut was good in his minutes last night. just a solid paint presence, and he's a smart player. those are always useful.
I don't think he really offered much offensively while he was on GS. He does have good IQ defensively, and is probably out there teaching guys where to be.
looked very solid against PHX I thought. The spot minutes are crucial and if he's doing his job defensively, that's all we can ask for. I dunno if we'll see him as much as we did tonight. I think it was more of a matchups thing tonight than anything else, as Phoenix likes to play a traditional lineup with 2 bigs instead of 1 and a stretch 4.
^could be true. But at the end of the day, Bogut isn't on this team next year. Whats the point using him instead of giving minutes to lets say Zu or Thomas Bryant? Bogut and Brook Looez are pretty much gone after this year. We need to have somebody else ready to play some minutes at C. Once again the Lakers are compromising their goals by wanting to develop young guys and also win games. It has to be either or., otherwise its a compromise. I also don't understand playing Brewer ahead of Hart. It makes no sense to play a guy that is gone in 5 months.
I feel like we'll start seeing the young guys after the ASG. Luke is trying to implement a system/culture and its easier to do with veterans. And at some point Bogut will be injured for awhile.
It's not a tank year so doubt that happens. We need youngins' progress but we also need the effing won - lost record to improve to help with the star recruitment. Not referring to Bogut specifically but rather benching the veterans for "youth experience" like last year in the 3rd tank season.
I'm not implying tank-like rotations but more like allowing Hart and Zubac time to develop into players we can trust night in night out. And then giving them bigger roles as the season goes on. Not like how we started and played Ennis 30+ mins last end of season.
