I don't think switching defense is a bad idea at all. The key isn't the small on the big, it's the weak side help. If Lonzo gets switched onto Baynes, either Kuzma or Ingram is responsible for breaking up the play on the weak side. Lonzo should be fronting the post and both Kuzma and Ingram are fast/long enough to come in and help on the lob by either breaking up the pass or blocking the shot. If the offense makes a skip pass to the weak side, it's on KCP or to move over to the corner. While KCP moves to the corner the closest defender to KCP's man slides over and the rest of the defense rotates around as needed. It should work with the kind athletes we have on this team, but the help was late basically every single time last night. As for Lonzo, he's fine. It's all in his head right now. He just needs one big game to help calm him back down. I do agree with whatever Tweeter that is who is saying they need more off-ball movement. Lonzo is perfect for a read and react offense, but there's hardly any weak side movement in our offense so we don't have much to go by. Lonzo is forced to produce almost all his assists in pick and roll settings which he's proven he's okay at, but it's not his ideal skill set. We've sacrificed all of our offensive production for our defense, so these problems will persist all year long. I'm not concerned about his shot, but Luke needs to find a way to help Lonzo relax.
I don't know how anyone can watch Ball and see "bust." An argument can be made about his shot, but are we going to ignore everything else? Stephen A is on the weeeeeeeeed.
It's just shooting fish in a barrel basically. Easy target - Lonzo's scoring difficulties. Never mind everything else that he does so well on the court.
I don’t think he’s actually watching him play. Probably looks at the box score, watches the highlights at best. They discuss football, baseball, basketball, boxing, mma, and some other sports on that show, no way they can watch every game of every sport. As much of an “expert” as Stephen A is here, he’s wrong and Max is right. I’m sure he enjoys the attention and clicks he gets from throwing out a word like bust as well.
Perhaps it would be a good idea to give him some extra rest at some point. One of the things I've noticed with his issues is that they appear to be physically based, such as jumping more into his shot (to compensate) and finishing at the rim. We haven't seen him explode or dunk recently as well.
I see one of the most competent young players I've seen in a long, long time. A kid who makes winning plays, plays unselfishly, and competes every game he's in. Anyone calling him a bust honestly doesn't understand basketball and should be ignored on all basketball related subjects.
Lol @ screamin A for saying Lonzo does not play defense. Im done for tonight, enough dumb s*** is enough...
hmmm...kidd should check out his numbers and his team's success in his rookie year. as he's saying "it's a stretch", there's a graphic depicting their striking statistical similarity. you can't make this s*** up. not that i'm suggesting lonzo is kidd (i tried to tell people i didn't see that at draft time, too), but kidd should be more diplomatic here. it's possible kidd doesn't remember being a terrible shooting first-year pg on a bad basketball team, but he was.
I thought his first remarks on Lonzo a couple weeks ago about those comparisons were more magnanimous, weren't they? Playing to a different audience here?
http://www.latimes.com/sports/lakers/la-sp-lakers-summer-league-20170709-story.html https://clutchpoints.com/lakers-news-jason-kidd-says-lonzo-ball-might-be-better-than-i-am/ It's clickbait you guys. It's a way for Fox or ESPN or whoever it was that did the interview to stay relevant. Don't listen to it.
Lonzo needs one thing to fix his shot. Time. He will start hitting his shots again. He is a phenomenal player. These past two drafts have given us a bright future regardless of free agents...
See .... there you go ....thanks realdeal above. Memory was correct. C'mon Kidd .... don't go getting political now .....playing to your audience for a particular day.
