Credit to Luke for putting Randle in at the 8 minute mark and then sticking with him rest of the game and OT. However, he almost cost us the game by puttin in that ridiculous lineup that had brewer at the 4 and kuzma at the 5. Never EVER should we see that lineup again. Oh, and credit to Luke for playing both Lonzo and Kuzma down the stretch and both stepped up big time!! Takes a lot of guts to play two rookies in the waning moments of the game and OT.
At some point Luke is going to figure out Ball/Kuzma/Randle gets ish done and stop messing around. BI on a good day + another shooter is the winning combination.
We can only hope right? If so, he’s antagonized enough, time for regular minutes off the bench with a smart lineup.
Read somewhere that Randle doesn't care about starting but wants to finish? Walton must have heard, gave him a chance. That chase down block on Wall off a half court defense was impressive.
I don’t know why is that so hard. Julius/Nance to start with quick sub based on opp. Then slide JR to C. Clark for Ball. Kuz for BI. Hurt for KCP. Stagger it a little.
Luke has been crap so far , his team is LOST when the 1st option/pass of an offensive set is denied. Too much iso , too many post ups , the 1st unit looks like a 90es team
Im not ready to jump off the Luke train yet. We are starting 3 new players from last year and being led by a 19 year old pg. Randle should be playing more minutes. But its hard to get to down on a coach who is starting 4 players under 25.
Agree. It's not like he goes out and tells them to turn the ball over. Unforced errors are our glaring weakness, other than outside shooting. They seem to play a lot better from behind when they have to go into attack mode.
Agreed. He stayed with the hot hands this time and they prevailed. Should have done the same last time. I think he's learning. But yeah some just head scratching lineups out there at times tonight.
I’m just happy that tonight we didn’t see Bogut, Caruso, Ennis, Deng or Zu. We can’t play 12 players every game and expect these guys to feel comfortable with their units and their role on the court. Now if we just started Randle, I’d be mostly happy with this rotation.... just never play Kuz at the 5 and Brewer at the 4 please.
Dont forget hes .500 now lolz. Go get em Luke. Lets go baby. Im loving watching the early signs of growth. BI looking better by the eye test the more i watch. Lonzo will get his as he goes. Kudos to Randle for stepping up.. We lose without him, literally. Don't worry i gave Ox s*** already...
Good job on the tighter rotations, this isn't 2K where you can play all 12 guys. What Luke needs to learn next is not to have an experimental lineup every game.
This. It shouldn't take this long to realize who your best players are and it shouldn't take this long to figure out rotations. You're not going to make everyone happy. Everyone isn't going to get into the game. Get your rotations down and force players to earn minutes in practice. He shouldn't be throwing s*** at the wall trying to guess what sticks. A young team with new veterans needs time to gel. They don't need their coach yanking them around and putting in 4th stringers like Bogut, Ennis, and Caruso every time they make a mistake. Lonzo, KCP, Ingram, Nance, Lopez, Clarkson, Hart, Kuzma, Randle, and Brewer. Those are your every day players. The rest get in when someone is in foul trouble or someone is out for whatever reason. Cater the rotations around those players. Figure it out Walton, this should be the easy part.
Not even sure you need to include Hart, but yeah. Bogut and whichever one of the Carenis guys is active shouldn't be on the floor. I think at this point it should be: Start Lopez/Randle/Ingram/KCP/Kuzma. At the 8 minute mark bring in Kuzma for Lopez and move Randle to the 5. Start the second quarter with Lopez/Nance/Kuzma/Hart or Brewer/Clarkson, then with about 7 minutes left in the second quarter, go back to the lineup that ended the first quarter. Rinse and repeat in the second half. Obviously if someone is hot you leave them in, but this experimenting isn't working.
Held Washington's starters to 18 pts in the 1st and it was in the 2nd, with mostly the 2nd unit where the Wiz blitzed us for 31. Its been 4 games and the rotations aren't concrete, so I'm not totally down on the starting 5 right now. I'm happy with Lopez starting games and going small ball with Ball, KCP, BI, Kuz, Randle to finish games (that lineup in large part held the Wiz to 13 pts in the 4th). I'm actually hoping to see that for the duration of the year. Randle doesn't need to start, but him ending games is great for us since his defensive switching is sweet. Plus keeping him out of the starting five saves him from foul trouble for late game availability. Where it could have gone ugly for Luke is when the game was on the line and we needed to send it to OT, Luke drew up an iso clear out play for BI. Not very innovative. And due to BI's youth, he's not really getting the whistle when he aggressively takes it to the cup...so thank god it worked out for us otherwise the pitchforks would have been out in full force last night.
Coach sometimes is only as good as his players playing well. Last night, Lakers played their butts off. Randle played hard the entire time he was in there and not only did he play hard, he made key plays. Lonzo made key passes for 3's. BI made key rebounds in that fourth and scored on key plays. This is how it has to be done. Washington was a legit team with a legit star and some really good players. It was nice to see the 3rd youngest team in the league look like they can continue to play well for 4 quarters and actually come back from a pretty good deficit in the 4th. That game reminded me of the title contender Laker teams. Down 7 with not much time left and then boom, they go on a run and win the game.
Cost us the game. Again. His lineups are Byron esque and it’s killing us. Seriously don’t know what Randle did to Luke, but he should be starting. Period.
Say it with me now, Luke. Walton. Terrible. Coach. Loss tonight is on you and your lack of a brain when it comes to rotations/game flow. - 4th quarter plays Ennis - fail - 4th quarter brings back starters when it's a got damn fact the small ball bench unit + Ball is our best unit - Fail - 4th quarter plays Brewer over Ball - Fail - Randle dominates both ends tonight - Sits during the critical period where we lost the lead and game - Fail - Hockey subs - Fail, mix and match Loss is on him tonight and I'm sure many more to come due to his inability to coach. I don't care if he's a young coach, if a bunch of fans have figure out what works and what doesn't a handful of games into the season, our head coach has no excuses. Ball/Kuzma/Randle you dimwit and stop playing Corey Brewer so many got damn minutes.
I don't understand either. Ball/BI/KCP/Kuz/Randle/Lopez 1. JC for Ball 2. Hart for Lopez with JR to C or 1. Hart for Lopez with JR to C 2. Larry for BI This is your f***ing rotation. It doesn't inlcude Pennis. Or Bogut. Or Deng. It should, sometimes, include Zu. PG: Ball, JC, Hart SG: KCP/Kuz/Hart/BI SF: BI/Kuz/Brewer PF: Nance/JR/BI/Kuz C: Lopez/JR/Zu THESE ARE YOUR OPTIONS. WORK WITHIN THEM. WHY IS THIS SO f***ING HARD? And stop mother f***ing posting Larry Nance you f***ing moron.
