Those players are going to do that anyway. If it takes a loudmouth dad to make someone go hard as a professional, they probably won't be a professional very long.

 

What happened? I feel like I"m in the Twilight Zone.

 

Do you think Lavar is the only reason Beverley acted the way he did? Do you think John Wall would go easy on Lonzo tonight if it weren't for Lavar?

 

So what if he does? The flame is burning. Again: if those guys need an old man's bravado to get up for a game, then they have a bigger problem than we'll ever have. John Wall wants to be an MVP. He's going to go at Lonzo harder than Beverley did. If Lonzo can deal with what Beverley gave him, there's not another player in the league I'm concerned about.

 

If there's a player who is going to give you a cheap shot, they're going to give you a cheap shot with or without a loud mouth father. These players hear constantly from millions of fans every single day who call them every bad thing in the book. One more person isn't going to make a difference.

The only people who really care about Lavar Ball's words are the media and the public. The players are going to get motivated anyway, these words don't matter. All this does is drive up the expectations for Lonzo and so far he's passed with flying colors. I have zero problem with any of this.

 

Okay LT. You've set your feet in on hating Lavar much more than I have in support, but you do what you have to do.

 

Of course and I and a few others will voice what we have to say. We can disagree amicably. I disagree with everything @abeer3 says and he's a big butthead, but I hope no one takes anything personally.

 

The guy is a dirty SOB. If Lonzo can deal with that little jerk, he'll be alright. He got his "rude awakening" and now it'll just be up to the kid to either step into that challenge every night or wilt under the pressure. I think he's shown well so far. Tonight is a big test.

 

What Beverley views as "good basketball" we're recognizing as dirty and uncalled for. That's all abeer is saying.

Beverley is a dirty jerk who makes what Lavar says/does look worse because he uses it as an excuse to cause injury loosely disguised as "competitiveness". Most guys aren't dirty players, they're just going to attack him as any normal player would. What you're saying with dirty players like Beverley taking Lavar's words and using them as an excuse is valid, but my point is just that those kinds of guys are going to be dirty no matter what happens. This is just the excuse they'll use. Guys like Dahntay Jones would be the same way and they'd find a way to hurt Lonzo with or without a loud mouth dad.

Most players when they say they're going to "come hard" and "have no mercy" are just going to be a little physical and try to cross him over. There's not a lot of real bullies left in basketball.
