I’d be good with that too. Just feels like the staffs answer to everything is to bench guys instead of really developing them.

If they’ve got so much faith in him then stick with him and actually teach him how to play.

I don’t like the ISO either but Luke should be working with him on that and teaching him how to operate within the offense

I’m mixed on him but the front office does and bet the farm on him by not including him in any trade talks. I think they missed their chance to put us in win now mode with that move.

For better or worse He’s our guy for the time being and I think they should commit to working with him and helping him become the player they say he is.

Otherwise, that’s 3 out of 4 top 5 picks we would have missed on.

I agree and that makes me feel like we need to get it right with Ingram even more.

Or he's a crazier thought, how about we give a 20 year old some f***ing leeway, we need to have some patience, the guy has a ton of talent and is constantly growing and getting better. I'm sure our coaching staff and general manager see Ingram up close everyday in practice and studying film. He has all the talent to be successful, it's all about time. Once his body gets stronger and he gets used to his height, and remember he's still getting used to the NBA, it takes 3-4 years for players to really show there full talent. This is the beginning of year 2.

Well, yeah. That's kind of my whole point. Leave him where he is. Let him keep playing and develop.

Blasphemy! That's crazy talk like the #2018plan (I guess we should ignore all the insider talk about FAs wanting to come here...its not like they call anything ever...they're all bombs...uh bums.)

The Lakers are nuts for prioritizing culture and a direction when we coulda had mad buckets yo! Shoulda kept DLo here instead and shipped BI out with his non-producing a**. Dude's never going to get there.

Kobe Rookie Yr: 7.6 pts at a 47.7% eFG clip
Kobe 2nd Yr: 15.4 pts at a 46.9% eFG clip

BI Rookie Yr: 9.4 pts at a 44.2% eFG clip
    BI 2nd Yr: 14.7 pts at a 43.4% eFG clip (so far..and he's sucked)

Zo and DLo woulda been so lit...DLo is kinda light skinned, right?

Its not like we've seen enough of Randle yet, so lets limit BI's minutes cause we already know what we got with that underachiever. Plus there's no way Zo and BI will ever figure out how to play with each other...there's like zero chemistry between them boys.

Are we certain he would have fetched a star? I'm not sure...

This. ^^^ Who was the star? Larry Bird threatened Pritchard will cutting his balls off if he dealt with the Lakers regarding PG. I still believe Bird was behind this as he went out the door knowing George wanted to force his way to the Lakers. Even if not. Probably would have had to been Ingram and the 2nd pick in the draft. Too much. What other "star" was BI realistically going out for?

except the plan hasn't changed. Luke may be causing frustration, but how has the front office been inconsistent and shown that they don't know what they're doing? Did i miss something? I just can't think of any evidence that management hasn't been sticking to their plan, despite how impatient the fans may be right now.

Talking about giving a young guy a chance all while disparaging a young guy. Perfect.

I think I might steal your line of reasoning to expose some other hypocrisies around here: with DLo and Randle...we lost badly...like worst era in Lakers history type of bad. Yet fans wanted the FO to show some restraint and patience by keeping DLo here and want to give Randle extended minutes with this roster. Yet, when it comes to BI, patience is no longer an option and we should send his butt to the bench because of all the losing we endured this season (2 losses). Suspect.

I encourage you to read this article on all the backstage craziness of the Bulls and how it led them to where they are now:

    http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/21082183/story-chicago-bulls-downfall

The fact of the matter is, not me, not you...know what's really going on behind the golden curtain. This FO just got together after years of ineptitude by the previous regime. A new roster has just been constructed after years of ineptitude from the previous one. You used the word perfect...yeah, fans want it perfect after we just put this thing together. Like @OmarE alluded to, where's the f***ing patience? Yet on the flip side, some of the fanbase actually wants to remain patient with dudes that contributed to the losingest era in Lakers history. Perplexed. Some of you guys are a fickle bunch.

In terms of picking this youth from that youth...I'm going to go with basketball player evaluation rather than some fan dream scenario. There's a reason we didn't give Randle an extension and why we subjugated him to the bench. Plenty of stuff behind the scenes that we probably don't know about, but I'm sure they all played a role in those decisions. The writing was on the wall with DLo, which is why there was a soft market for him. Yet I think the FO got a heck of a deal out of it considering we dumped a cap restricting contract as well. PG was blocked to us, so we went with plan B and I can live with that cause we had guys like Magic state they needed a leader and DLo wasn't it. I'm going to hold a ton of value on that evaluation, seeing how he might have a bit of expertise in that particular dept.

You had DLo and Randle play with Kobe and be around the guy for an extended amount of time. So when it came to decisions, you don't think Pelinka went to Kob and asked for his evaluation on who's a keeper? Or do you think Kobe stayed quiet on the matter?

(BTW, Kobe nailed that evaluation, didn't he?)

Management makes mistakes all the time, so I'm not saying they are not without critique. But typically when you have something new come in, you give it a chance and a fair shot before you label it a mistake and call for their heads. We're 3 games in and we're asking for more out of a kid when his effort and all the intangibles is exactly what we want from all our young players. The youth that can't give us that are either shipped out, or not given a long term commitment (ie extension).

i was going to multi-quote, but there were too many.

but defending the FO right now is pretty precious.

the star ingram would nab was paul george. but we wouldn't even discuss. same with cousins last year. at some point, you risk the untouchable tag changing its meaning on you.

comparing what kobe looked like in year 2 to what ingram looks like is pretty disingenuous, as is preaching patience with ingram while gleefully tapdancing on russell's grave. that is super rich.

i've been consistent: the russell trade was sensible if you had a clear plan for winning right now. if not, it was silly. they clearly didn't have a plan to win now.

are we going to rejoice if ingram is traded with deng this summer for another stopgap vet with wink wink promises from 2019 FAs?

anyway, neither elgin nor i said dump ingram. in fact, i even said he shouldn't be benched (which is what it seems like the majority is demanding). what i did say is that what they're asking him to do is stupid and counterproductive, and they should stop asking it.

The problem I see is our organization wants to rush the development of B.I to attract FAs next summer .

This is a flawed plan as BI isn't ready to be a go to scorer .

On the other hand , we are the Lakers and we don't want to wait for another 4-5 years to become relevant again.

This is the difficult equation management has to figure out and right now most of us wonder if it ever will
