He can shoot. But trying to defend the big boys and score down low isn't his thing. We did so much better with him out of the game. Obviously he was going against 2 All Stars and arguably the best at their positions. Too much to ask.
Bad game, but yes, everyone in our starting lineup kinda looks bad together. Not being put in the best positions to succeed. I’m not sure Lopez is used to having to create for himself this much, and we don’t seem to be running any half-court offense.
Totally agree. The starters just look horrendous. I think he should be the focus of the starting offense for sure as he's the most capable scorer. But they need other options around him. So far it's been bleak.
I thought he was fine. The bigger problem is our offense with the starters is basically a pickup game. If we can't get a fastbreak score, everything breaks down into... nothing really. It's just a high school gym team after the fastbreak. If we put Brook in better positions to succeed, he'll be better. Last night he had a tremendously tough defensive assignment and an unclear offensive assignment. You know what would have been a great idea? Put Brook on the block and force Cousins/AD to defend him in the post. We may be able to pick up a few fouls early and change the momentum of the game. Instead we try to match their game: outside stretch bigs with the four crashing. AD vs. Nance is a great position to succeed on the glass right? Hm...
...had a play off a lead pass where he had Oubre or Porter on him. Drifts back out of the paint to take a trey which he missed.. WTF? Still happy to have him however.
I’m happy to have him as well, but to repeat myself, don’t like how he’s being used. I’m not sure he’s used to an offense with so little structure, he’s a half-court player and we aren’t even dumping it down to him a few times to let him go to work.
We're trying to have a fast paced offense so there's the rub. They'll figure out a balanced medium with Lopez as it is only four games. The latter is a Stanford grad so no reason he can't either.
I get that, and I agree. I think when we get slowed down and in the half court though, more stuff should be run through him, as opposed to so many Ingram ISOs, as one example. He is a smart player, that’s why we need to use him in the half court if we don’t have a super structured offense set up.
