He'd not be doing that annoying as he always is schtick this morning though now would he? Just like some knee jerk letters to the L.A. Times sports section today were killing Lonzo after the one 1st game.
Aaaaaand everyone exhales. Does anyone who destroyed the guy yesterday in the media want to eat crow? No? Probably not. I'm sure there's a ton of articles retracting all the rough things that were said. I'm sure there's plenty out there who are going to admit they jumped to conclusions after one bad game. If Ball can capture this type of game 4/5 nights, he's going to be a perennial All-Star. Of course I don't mean getting a triple double or a near triple double, I mean making the right effing read every single time. The defense is going to give you something, take it. That's Ball's strength and he does it better than anybody I've seen in forever, especially for his age. Kobe had this ability as well, but he used it to score. Ball does it to get everyone involved and he makes the game easier for everyone in a way that few players do (or even want to). Let's see how he does against New Orleans. They don't exactly have the strongest wing players, but let's see what he does against a great front court duo.
i didn't expect as lame a game from as the first, and i didn't expect as good a game from him as the second. might be a bumpy ride. one thing's for sure: his personality isn't going to be his problem. he's not rattled, and he comes to play. he has a long way to go physically (this hurts him most on defense, where he has a helluva time staying with the ballhandler), but mentally, he's already there.
His stretch in the 4th made me so excited... BS foul they called on him that couldve f***ed us at the end.
It's really, really, really, REALLY early, but I'm gonna say it anyway. Lonzo is #1 in scoring and assists for rookies.
He should have an easier time tonight on the perimeter. Bledsoe and Beverley are two of the stronger defenders at that position...at least Bledsoe used to be. Havent been following him much the last couple years.
IMO the 2 obvious reasons to not burn Lonzo out physically with too many minutes his rookie year and at his young physical condition are: 1. Just how hard and fast he plays the game. Always pushing the ball including last game against the Suns breaking out improving handles and moves to get free and get inside to score or dish and how he is always around the basket looking to rebound the ball. He really has a nose for the ball in amongst the trees. 2. The sheer physicality and contact with stronger and bigger players in playing that way whether on the perimeter or inside against much larger players.
