i wouldve given up #2 pick to indy if we couldve pulled off minn type trade and gotten their pick in exhange like the butler trade and or attached deng to it....dlo had his warts and attitude issues but he was already pg ish, ingram could still be a bust but at least potentially youd have 1-2-3 spot set, ball play making isnt gona do this team any good cause the talents suck for his passing skill...now we suck at 2/3 spot n might wind up over paying kcp who i think will also be a failure

I'm not sure I buy the "Hitting people with perfect passes but they miss the shot" rhetoric anymore. We had that excuse with Dlo until the day he was traded. As far as living up to the hype, it'll be impossible to live up to what some of you expect of him. At best he'll be Steve Nash, maybe not as good a shooter. Expecting a magic/Kobe hybrid is unfair.

He's made me a believer; he'll be a good basketball player, but it's going to take time, roster changes, and better coaching.

Tonight, I thought he had more Turnovers than 2, but @ZenMaster corrected me; he's always going to be a great passer with superb vision, but right now, his shooting hasn't been very good, he gets wiped out on screens, etc.

I expect a very typical rookie year...ups and downs.

Not really surprised that he didn't have a big night, there were reports coming out of training camp that Lonzo was gassed for most of the practices and drills. And Beverley was always going to dig into him on opening night. Physically he's not there yet; I think most of us knew this well before preseason even started, but wanted to believe that something amazing could happen. It's why we watch the games. But to not expect nights like this from a skinny rookie is unfair. It will take time.

That's not a rhetoric. Go re-watch the tape and count the amount of times he had a pass on target for the player to brick it or miss a hockey pass out...

great passing dont do much when you dont have the talent or the execution.....I think we could still be where we wanted to be as a team w/o ball but with PG and possibly un dengle ourselves and booted Deng in that possible Indy trade, or hell Ingram instead of #2 and have ball/dlo/pg

Also... what was pts/play for other PGs and for cases where he wasn't guarded by Suckerly.

box score doesn't even come close to telling the story...

He should have had 10 assists easily and would have probably gotten 10-12 rebounds if he playd int he 4th.

Lonzo is going to have a lot of double doubles this year and potentially a lot of triple doubles.

My one criticism on Zo tonight: be aggressive. stop playing it safe. I want him to take 10-14 shots a game to keep the defense honest otherwise he'll become predictable and he'll average more turnovers.

Oh and Luke...put some god damn shooters around Ball. Stop playing him with guys who can't shoot or create their own shot!!

Also, Lopez, hit your wide open shots god damn it.

We saw this in summer league, first game not so eye popping then goes on the win SL MVP. I think he’ll be fine in the long run. He is a 19 year old playing against grown who are coming for him (thanks dad). But everybody including players and coaches are saying he’s going to be a “heck of a player”. So they must see something in him too. It’s going to be a rough season for him but that may work to his advantage in that it will have to toughen him up and force him to take these challenges head on. Or he’ll shrink and be labeled a bust. Who knows... In any case I’m interested in seeing how he responds tonight and over the next few games.

Didn’t think he was great or terrible.

Made some nice passes. A couple of nice defensive plays. Rebounded well.

Just the lack of spacing, inability for guys to hit shots, obviously needs to be a little more aggressive, but overall for his first game he wasn’t bad by any means.

I liked that he at least didn't back down and fold under the Beverly's childish antics.

I was encouraged. This was always going to be a rough game for him. Beverly is a guy who bothers the best point guards in the NBA. I thought he looked fine. He'll need to be more aggressive but I thought his passing and rebounding were great. I'm not concerned. If he comes out timid in game 2 we'll have to keep an eye on that.

f*** all the media people claiming he had a terrible night.

how is he going to get assists when there is absolutely no one on this team who can shoot?

he'll find his scoring touch, but his remarkable passing skills are just going to waste with this roster
