Kuzma's form looks good...nice release on his shot. The misses were an inch long here and there. No bad bricks. Defenders can't play him off the ball 'cos he'll take them to the rack. Jackson commented he sees no weakness on Kuzma's overall game. Difficult to contain the enthusiasm for the rookie. Had he made a few more tonight, game would have been ours.
Couple of those 3s just missing after he easily gets self open for them and he'd a been at an "easy" 24. Draws fouls! The guy has some "smooth criminal" in him. I don't think Brandon ever got off his butt to get with Kobe this summer. Pure conjecture. But if he had maybe some of even his ill advised iso play would be working a little better because his footwork would look a little closer to how Kyle's looks already. Yep ..... straight from the ole hip.
1/6 (15 points) 2/7 (18 points) 0/1 (21 points) 4/9 (23 points) 1/4 (19 points) Those are his five games from outside and his point totals. Overall Kuzma is shooting 56.25% and only 29.63% from deep. He's shooting a ludicrous 75.68% from inside the three point line.
the threat of the three is more important than the percentage, imo. teams are trying to get to him, and that changes the game for our team. percentages matter when you're randle and your man sags into the paint, mucking up the offense. obviously, you'd like him to make a few more, but he's impacting the game regardless.
For sure. I actually was surprised by the numbers because it feels like he's shooting better than that. Teams will adjust as they see his percentages aren't actually that great. Hopefully he can make them pay when that happens. The stroke still looks clean as all hell.
Once again, closed out the game when it was on the line. It has to be said again, forget this starting role nonsense...put Kuz in the game when it really matters. Still, I want him to work on getting stronger and valuing the defensive boards. Joe made it painfully obvious last night that he ain't ready to body with those type of players just yet.
I'm assuming but also checking ..... can he do that spinning the other way too? He's pretty ambidextrous with his moves going to the basket, right? We've seen the running left and right hooks back to back no less already against NBA players. If he has that spin move going the other way too at that speed and coordination at this age ...... oh my!!
Awesome breakdown on just how good Kuzma is technically at this young age. But he lost me when he went to the part of being a pretty good perimeter defender already even against quick guards and wings ..... as it has been explained to me that D. Russell being an actual 2 guard must be better ..... errrr.... or now it doesn't matter any more about defense for the sake of argument in who might win a balls out winner take all competition for a starting spot at the 2 on this Lakers team between Russell and Kuz. It's obvious right, Russell just has so much more variety to his offensive game as well. Go ahead .... keep mocking. I stand by my off the wall hypothetical situation. All the money in the middle of the table Kuz comes out with the starting 2 position after a camp long and pre-season competition and goodbye D'angelo. Again. Sorry sirron for that type of situation. Deal with it.
Game 1: +4 (26 mins, 2nd most behind Ball's 36) Game 2: +8 (29 mins, most tied with KCP) Game 3: -15 (28 mins, most on the team) Game 4: +7 (27 mins, with 29 mins being the most played by Caruso & BI) Game 5: +5 (29 mins, 2nd most behind Caruso's 32) With the clear outlier being Game 3, Kuz has been a net positive on the floor and has earned and been given well deserved minutes as a result.
