Way too early to count Ingram out. His body is still not “NBA ready”, he barely turned 20 a month ago. What I do think is an issue is pushing him to be this 20ppg scorer, an iso guy trying to be Kobe out there. That’s clearly not his game, not yet anyway. As some said, he needs to be getting easy looks off screens and such. He doesn’t need to be trying to carry this big scoring burden, he needs to be an all-around player, catch and shoot, cut to the hoop, use his length on defense, all-around versatile player like he started to become last season. I’m disappointed in his play so far as well, but I see very correctable issues, instead of gigantic roadblocks like with Randle.

maybe because his boss told him to score 20 per when it was obvious to everyone that wasn't happening.

my big gripe with his offense right now is its predictability. just puts head down and drives right. defender is always waiting on it and bottling it up. clarkson and randle, even with their warts, are far better iso players than ingram at this point, but we run isos for ingram for some reason.

    THIS.

Why are we isoing Ingram all the time? We're forcing him into a role he's not suited to yet. Let's get him in motion. Let's get him off screens. Let's get him cuts to the basket so there's not a defender draped on him. What we're doing now is going to make him inefficient and probably get him hurt. Ingram might one day be a go-to scorer, but he's clearly not ready yet. It's been frustrating watching him be a guy who we're forcing action to every other possession which kills our ball sharing mentality. More than any player on the team Ingram is a ball stopper and that's saying something.

He's too good a passer, has too many tools physically as a defender, and is too long and athletic to be this bad in other areas. When he was at his best he was affecting the game on different levels and wreaking havoc as a catch and move player. This is a mistake. I understand Magic is putting pressure on him to be a scorer, but that doesn't mean Luke has to put him in isos. Unless of course Ingram is going against what Luke wants and is forcing this action without the coach's go ahead. Then it's all on Ingram and in which case he needs to be benched.

I agree, he's not ready to be an ISO scorer. He doesn't have the strength yet to just drive on his defender and meet the big man in the middle. He was most effective last year when he caught the ball and attacked right away.

Didn't watch the first game, but watched last night. I realize Brook Lopez will help, but we are still in for a long, long season. With Westbrook signing that extension, and the subsequent PG13 comments, I am worried we are in for a long rebuild.

Just about to post this. When the front office was pumping him up this summer I was concerned and he's not making me feel any better.

I guess this answers what everybody was wondering this summer, in particular LT haha...I see you buddy!

Brandon did not meet/train with the Mamba. Those isos would look a whole lot different if he had.

That being said, I do understand the isos and the ball sticking... We haven't practiced any of the playbook yet so we'll get there. Till then, he's probably given the green light to go display what he worked on in the summer ie isolation scoring by working on his body to get stronger.

For those that are concerned about our training camp pace...Luke was asked how he felt about such a condensed training camp and he said that trading camp was still going on for the Lakers till the beginning of the season. So from media day till Oct. 17, these guys will be going hard for 3 weeks. It kinda explains why they get so gassed so quickly in these last 2 games. The 1st quarters are always our best and then we fade.

Its true that BI has been disappointing, but when his conditioning gets there, he trains with Kob and knows the playbook, he's going to be alright! I'm not concerned cause the sample size is still considerably low.

I was against the Durant comparisons from the beginning cause I think the scoring will get there and Kobe will be there as a mentor as well. The kid needs to be in the film room studying Kawhi's game...once you build the D, the O will come. <--- intended to be read in a non-perverted way.

He's about 2 years away from where I think he wants to be ultimately; he's just not there right now, and that's okay. We're just an impatient fan base; including me. He has a little ways to go...

I do not think the Lakers are going to wait 2 years for BI. If this team plays the way it has the last 2 games into the regular season, I believe the Lakers may clean house before the end of the year to cover their a** for the missing draft pick. Lakers have Lonzo, in the end, they can say, we went through all this for the perfect PG to rebuild with. They hit a homerun with Kuzma and with some luck in the offseason, the Lakers can bring the difference makers.

I do not know where I stand with BI. I will give him until the end of the year to see where he is. Not expecting 20 points a game but he needs to show he is good at something all year like he did last year on defense. I do not know if he will ever be the guy who can get you basket when you need it. And that is not good because Lonzo never will either. He is the guy who passes to the guy to make the needed shot, like Nash and Kidd used to.

If the Lakers aren’t willing to allow these kids to develop I don’t even know the point of taking them then. Rebuilding takes time. You can’t just give up on it after a year or two. These kids next time to get acclimated to the NBA, grow into their bodies, and to develop their skills as players.

I'm 90% sure they mean a superficial contusion and not a brain contusion. As in when you bop your head and have a little knot.

If we're going to put BI in ISO, he's going to have to trust his jumper more. It seems he's too reliant on using his length off the dribble with the success he had at the end of last season, he still needs to develop some more strength and finish strong like he did last season.

Also, I wanna see some post work, I'm pretty sure he's got a definitely size advantage against most 3's.
