Whatever the math is, the attention being paid to this 16 year old now is noticeable. I think that's the takeaway. A packed house to watch what is essentially really bad YMCA ball between athletic teens? That's impressive.

And yes Zion, to me, is nothing but a dunker. Derrick Williams redeux right now. I hate watching LaMelo play. Reminds me of everything wrong with basketball at that age and it's encouraged in that AAU society.

Ball Effect. The game was on FB. Not sure if Lavar has an agreement with Ball is Life as part of FB, but if not, he should. People hang on his every word and action. 70,000 were watching (including me) at a way too late start time. It's because of him and his kids. They should be reaping a cut. I mean, LeBron got turned away at the door. LeBron going to watch some 15 and 16 year olds play basketball.

Near the end of the game Lavar left the court. The announcers were asking if he got kicked out, if he left in disgust. I think he had to use the restroom. LOL he came back shortly to mostly cheers. 6 months ago no one knew his name. Now he's got the basketball world in his grip.

I agree, we all know these kids are athletic and can dunk. But lets see their fundamentals and footwork. Let's see how they can read different pick and roll coverages, etc....

I believe Lavar and the Ball family have some sort of deal with FB. I know they're doing a reality show or something along those lines.

The 45k wasn't how many were in the gym, it was how many people were watching the stream at that time. Got up to 75k, which was the highest I saw. Crazy for an AAU game and only made possible by BBB.

Interview before the game last night. He explained why he took the team off the court last weekend.

Stick with it and you can see the crowd at the door getting turned away and highlights of the game.

Did his reasoning for pulling the team off the floor and forfeiting hold any water at all?

I thought so. Basically, the refs were cheating and he wasn't going to allow his kids to get hurt. Was proud that when he said to leave they just grabbed their bags and walked out instead of hesitating. Showed him that he has their loyalty.

unlikely at the AAU level, but you never know. More likely, he didn't like the calls he was getting, felt a ref was taking it to him personally and trying to show "Big Baller" what's up, and chose to take his ball and go home.

He can spin it however he wants, but I'm not buying it personally.

Here is a video of the bad calls.

Melo got pushed. That one was pretty blatant to me. I don't see cheating though.

Big Ballers don't make excuses for doing jacka** things like pulling their team off the floor in game they were winning because they got a second T and kicked out of the game. They don't make excuses because they never do that s*** in the first place. LaVar deserves his own version of the LeBron tiny baller gif for this.

Makes me remember this game and this video from 11 yrs ago.

Now these were some bad calls. That AAU game wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
