So diverse here at LB .... any lawyers in the crowd to go with doctor, judge, gif artist, professors, trainers, media types, psychologists? What kind of damages with typical stupid L.A. juries can you pull for Barns here?
Another series of gifs for you guys. Here is where I think Lonzo gets a massive amount of assists this upcoming season: the hit ahead pass. Obviously Lonzo has the ability to nail the long-ball pass, but in the NBA I expect those passes to just not be there as often as they were in the Summer League. These passes are simple, but cause mismatches immediately with the defense. Look at the clock on these passes: we're taking open shots within 4 seconds of the shot clock. Instead of Dozier and Thomas, just imagine Ingram, Randle, or KCP on the run. This to me might be Lonzo's greatest weapon. Next some great examples of Lonzo's defensive instincts. Lonzo is not a lock-down defender and never will be. His difference from Kidd is never more apparent than watching the two play defense. In Summer League he showed flashes of solid defense, but was often inconsistent with his effort and I think a large part of that was his conditioning. He desperately needs to gain strength and conditioning, but when he's locked in, he shows instincts like these: reading passing lanes and knowing where the ball is going to be. The kid is a genius basketball player, no question about it. He just needs to keep working hard to develop himself. This is an example of his pure talent. He runs a text-book high screen and roll with Zu that should have finished with a dunk. Instead, he one-hands the rebound and redirects it as a pass out to Kuzma for a wide-open three. This is maybe my favorite play of Lonzo's during the whole Summer League as it just truly exemplifies his natural talent.
I have faith he had a come to jeezus moment in Summer League and if he is not traded in some crazy new deal with all this Cleveland fallout now happening, that he's going to look like a different player come start of the season. From SL. Had to embarrass the hell out of him to all of a sudden no longer be the fun loving big kid ... future center of the franchise .... and honeymoon over with Lakerfan. Lakers was his dream and he's been living it. Now, with Magic there reality is staring him in the face. Do it Zu!!!
Were only gonna need Zu for 15 min a game max. More likely 10 cause of Randle/Nance at C when we go small. I think that will be great allowing him to play with explosion and not have to worry about playing an entire game. A bench unit of JC,Brewer,Kuzma,Deng&Zu sounds good to me.
Yeah i feel you. Thats just my current vision with current personnel. If we get that PG then Deng/Brewer fight for minutes cause Kuzma is able to play at the 3 or 4.
Regarding the steals, he is as you put it, a basketball genius. He uses his knowledge of passing to know where the ball is going to be and jump in and steal it. He isn't a good defender, no, but he's so smart on offense that actually bleeds into the defensive end.
Was he tired? Lol. Seriously doe. Put a 12 min max on Zu. No more than 2 six minute stretches. Think that would give him success.
