I think that's where I differ from others. A second or third option is still a really good player to me. Like I would say guys like Klay are second/third options and he's obviously good and everyone would want him. It's not a knock by any means. I think we'd all be fairly content if Ingram ended up on that level. Could he end up higher and a top tier guy? I'm definitely not ruling that out. This is just where I see him now.
I guess in case there was any doubt, last nite's ferocious Dallas comeback convinced the voters to give it to Zo haha
The difference between a 3rd option on the Warriors or Cavs is a LOT different than a 3rd option on last years Lakers or just about any other team.
Pau Gasol was a #2 option on a championship team with the Lakers. Lamar Odom and Andrew Bynum were #3 and #4 on the same team. No shame in not being the guy so to speak. Still too early to tell with Ingram, but if he ends up being a #2 or #3 I won't be mad. He'll still be a very good player in this league on both ends of the court.
That's really damn cool considering all the competition in summer league. Fultz, Jackson, Tatum, Fox, Smith Jr all played. As did many players who were rookies last season or even 3rd or 4th year players. Also, Kuzma 2nd team? Behind who?
Fultz played like 1 game. Jackson was ehhh... Tatum played well, but in their match-up when they guarded each other, Kuzma bested him. Fox did nothing after his first game and got Caruso a contract. Smith Jr played great and deserves 1st team. Kuzma definitely deserved 1st team. Hopefully he'll show why tonight and make them regret it.
Hands down, on and off the Bball court, he made the freaking SLV headline news in sports every game night.
Named the MVP without playing in the Final and I think it's fair honestly. Not only did he do astronomical things statistically in Summer League compared to his peers, he was beating records set by some of the great guards in the NBA right now when they were in this position. I know at times as Laker fans we can be hyperbolic (all fans really), but this kid looks like he's the one we've been waiting for. It's a well deserved MVP. And no I didn't know there was such a thing. And yes of course Kuzma should be first team.
Who from Portland or LA could pass him? They'd have to score a 100 points. Seriously, 50 by anyone tonight wouldn't sway the voters. It was Lonzo's Summer League. #BBB
There's never been a player who sparked this much interest in the summer league and he lived up to the hype. Well deserved honor for him.
Lonzo is already the man. It's about damn time the headlines and TV shows started featuring Lakers again. The future is bright, y'all.
