I heard that comment from Magic, and it stood out to me. I see two possibilities that make sense of that comment.

    1. Magic can't stand scoring PGs from his own personal bias as a pass first PG, going all the way back to the issues he had with Norm Nixon.

    2. Magic knows he's getting two ball dominant FA players next year, so he knew that Dlo would not be a good fit with the incoming stars.

The comment doesn't make sense otherwise. If Steph Curry, Westbrook, or DLillard were available to sign do you think Magic would turn them down because they are scoring PGs?

That's a great point actually. I didn't think about it that way.

Maybe the Russell trade really did have something to do with clearing the way for other ball dominators. I still wish we'd gotten see the two play together, but oh well I guess. No use worrying about it now.

i really didn't see russell as a ball dominator. i thought he moved the ball pretty well, actually--better than clarkson and randle do.

I think all three pounded the ball or stopped it too much, but Clarkson is by a wide, wide margin the worst. How many times did he single handledly dribble out the clock until he got a bad shot off? Yikes! At least with Russell or Randle they'd occasionally pass it when they ran the clock down (Russell obviously more than Randle). I wonder if there's a stat somewhere about ball stoppage. The contest between Blue and Clarkson would be extreme.

Saying someone moves the ball better than Clarkson is the definition of a back-handed compliment.

Russell is far from the worst at dominating the ball. Compared to Clarkson he is an amazing ball mover. But, I think Magic was comparing him to Lonzo and anticipating the two incoming.

If Kang is coming to town with George, the thought of Lonzo hitting those two and Ingram in stride the way he's hitting some of our scrubs in Summer League...scary, scary thought.

I'm going to listen to this entire Zach Lowe podcast later today, but from reports it doesn't sound like Luke was a big fan of the idea of losing Russell, which hurts to know even more.

Luke is a coach, not a GM, so of course he's not too thrilled when it comes to short-term losses.

He's in the same position as the fans are right now. He has to trust that Rob and Magic's plan to dump Moz' contract by shipping off D'Angelo will result in long-term gains in 2018.

Plus I'm confident the KCP signing took some of the sting out of losing Dlo for Luke.

wasn't everyone's "reasoning" for Deng/Moz because "Luke wanted them"?
