guess i'm just wondering that if this isn't representative of what he's doing, why is it what's hitting social media? as always, hope i'm wrong, but really...this is what you want people to see? you in a hoodie in slow motion making shots i made when i was 9?

I gotta give Julius the benefit of the doubt here. His biggest weakness has been basketball IQ and the fundamentals.

Nice to see him working the fundamentals. Start of basic every session and progress to more and more advanced. Duncan is the king of it and he did alright!

I got a feeling his value is gonna be looking very good. Randle should be flashing a fair amount of 20 pt games... If not cut the plug of entitled minutes and put in Kuz whose more agile than Julius.

I get what you're saying. For what it's worth, Luke raved about Julius on Lowe's podcast. I've been meaning to listen to it, but I read that Luke said Julius was defending guards so well they couldn't get their shots off. If that's true, this season might be a lot more fun than we're anticipating.

not to always be raining on the julius parade (i actually like him quite a bit, really), but the difference between him and green is between the ears. julius is watching tape to think about where to be, green just sort of knows where to be. i don't doubt julius can keep guards in front of him; i've seen it. he moves really well for his size, both straight line and laterally. he's just not in the right place. maybe they can construct a defense that makes use of his and nance's mobility at the pf spot and allows them to dictate action more often instead of reacting. that's where randle gets in trouble, imo. when he's directly involved in the action (on both ends), he's at his best.

And I think this is the perfect example of BB IQ being different than real IQ. Randle seems like a pretty bright kid when he's interviewed. Green is a dunce. But one knows where to be at all times. The other is clueless.

Julius looks (and this is only slight hyperbole) fantastic when he blitzes high on the pick and roll and pushes the guard out. He's got great quick twitch athleticism for his size and I genuinely think if he's in the kind of shape that it looks like he is, he can switch decently well. However, if he soft hedges, he looks horrible. If he full switches and gives the guard space, he gets beat it feels like every time.

Huge difference in will/mentality too ... Julius thinks he's too cool/good to work his a** off on the defensive end ..

Anyways Draymond is an unique player , both mentality and abilities wise

I sincerely hope Julius has a breakout year and fits great next to Ingram nad Ball. I would absolutely hate to see him go and that seems like a sure thing if he doesn't. He has been my favorite Laker ever since we' ve drafted him.

Those reports are very encouraging and he did have that great stretch of about 20 games in the beginning of last season... I still believe this kid can become one if the best big men in the league.

This kid has the physical talents to be an approximation of Draymond Barkley. It's extremely doubtful he gets there, but he's making progress to at least be a poor man's vesion of said players.

Areas to improve from last season:
-Consistent effort/focus: I think this was largely conditioning. Should be a big improvement.
-Jumper: looks much better. Remains to be seen in games.
-Off-hand: Showed flashes of great improvement last season, but still a long way to go. Who knows what progress he's made with those dumb layup drills he's doing.
-Defensive awareness: Good god he has a long way to go. Glad to hear he's studying Draymond film.
-Offensive off-ball awareness: Still quite lost if he's not the focal point of the play. Lonzo's ball movement is going to help keep him involved much more.

He's either going to be shockingly improved and clearly the 3rd best player on the team, making the decision to go over the cap to sign him hard. Or he's gone at the trade deadline.

I know it's Drew league and nobody really plays defense because they don't want to get injured, but damn Randle wasn't even trying on defense. His shot looks effortless now though. Just hoping he plays better defense this year.

Wonder if Magic would overlook the FAT? WTF .... at least he's been on the big stage before and probably has confidence in his own mind to do what they'd need him to do. Julius running pretty damn quick going backwards in those clips. Good to see the Js go down.

Agree here. Engaged Julius can blitz and switch better than anybody on our roster from anywhere 1-3.
