Shaq has/had his own brand... Too cheesy for adults to ever wear them but its huge for the lower income families so its a good thing .

Shaq screwed himself by walking into Nike negotiations wearing Reeboks. I respect what he does too. he still made money while providing a service to less fortunate.

I hope his $495 shoes are really well made. Top NBA abuse capable quality. Practical reason is to keep Lonzo safe as reasonably possible, as he's probably going to have to wear them. And because for that kind of money why the hell would you not spend the extra $20 (??) on materials and technology to make them the best?

Yeah no s*** they are all made in China, though who knows with this venture. My point would still be that there is high quality manufacturing coming out of China vs low quality crap coming out of China. Same thing used to be said about Japan, then Korea and so on. You disagree with that? Apple (not saying their products themselves are better made than Samsung or anyone else) has their products made in China. And like anything else, modern basketball shoes in this case, not all brands, models, styles and technologies are created equal at the supposed high end for performance.

I'm just curious. With such an important piece of equipment and specialized shoe for high performance needs of the feet and legs there must be at least some variety of design approach, technologies and levels of quality of the shoes themselves. As is found with other specialized feet/leg equipment.... ski boots, bindings, hiking or running shoes, cold weather gear, etc.

I see Steph wearing ankle bracers along with his shoes, I was surprised Kobe never got more seriously hurt wearing his low top shoes

^ high top shoes does not protect your ankles better than low tops. That's a myth...

Cool. Cheap labor - cost controlled contracts.

A couple of things I like about Ball - I love the pace he plays with; I also think he's going to be really good in transition creating opportunities for others; he plays with a self-less purpose, his passing can be infectious, and his feel for the game is impressive.

I'm not in on the "hype", but I do think he can be a solid player, though.
