I know PG/hayward combo sounds amazing, but hayward alone can do some damage. Yes it will still
be tough to beat the cavs/warriors, but Im not sure pg/hayward can either. Especially if they thin the bench out by acquiring PG.
If this is all contingent to landing hayward, lets hope he stays in Utah.

That's why I said this is bad. If this deal happens it's only going to happen if George agrees to an extension. The C Bags aren't going to give up all the stuff they wouldn't for Butler for 1 year of George. If they trade for him it's because they talk to his agent and get him convinced to stay their long term. If this happens that will be an awful day for us, like JSJ said we will have traded Russell to clear space for George and then not gotten George.

I've read a few times that PG would forfeit a lot of money agreeing to an extension now. Even if he loves Boston, I don't see him doing that if he makes substantially more becoming a FA then signing. Will try to find a Tweet I read to that affect...

Well if PG has not been sincere in all his statements behind the scenes that have reached our FO including NOT to gut the team, and he turns around now, for the chance of a lifetime (??) to play next to Gordon freaking Hayward, rather than truly blazing his own star for the Lakers ..... and does an extension up front, then F*** Paul George too. It's time for he and his agent to make this crystal clear.

No Ingram. No Zubac. No Ball. Have at it Rob with whatever else of our young assets to do the shark work you were brought in for. Good luck! Hope you have great Plan B if PG weanies out on this major move to L.A.

Starting to feel more and more like we lose out on George all together though.

yeah, this was my fear, and why i was willing to pony up more on draft night. shots at players of george's caliber are rare. ainge would be wise to take it. if that offer's real, this will most certainly happen.

only hope left is george tells them he's not interested.

Crowder is probably gone in order to match PG-13's salary because they have to have the max slot available for Hayward.

Because he'd leave money on the table to do it.

Basically, if he signs an extension with his Bird Rights, he's only able to collect 7.5% raises on the money he is earning now.

However, since the cap has moved up considerably, he's actually eligible for much more money. If he signs an extension for 3 years it'd be something like 3/68 million or something. Or he can expire and the team with his Bird Rights can offer 5/177 million.

If he opts out and re-signs he's looking at more like 4/131 with a different team.

Yep, but I have a feeling he will be interested. He wants to win now; if Boston gets it way, they can provide that.

    This blows.

    Here's the best offer

Randle, jc, kuzma, Thomas, and unprotected 2019 pick, plus second rounders

If he goes to Boston, I believe he stays.

    We'll see.

I believe there's every chance he stays, but if I were him I'm still not signing an extension. Sure, he gets a winner in the East and a path to the FInals, but he still isn't getting through Golden State. I'm not going to leave over 100 million dollars on the table not to win a chip. Let's see what the offer is from Boston if George refuses an extension.

As long as George hits FA next summer, the Lakers have a chance at him. I'll move this thread if George signs an extension.

that doesn't top the C Bags offer mentioned above (and we can't trade the 2019 pick, anyway).

again, this is why i was so deflated when george wasn't a laker right after the russell trade. if george goes to boston (especially after agreeing to an extension), this was a pretty huge mistake by the FO.

i'll be curious to hear the whole story once it's all done. did george change his mind, or were we overconfident? did we REALLY intend to use russell to dump mozgov to have money without knowing who would take that money?

I'm not listening to the radio, but just quoting Jordan-Esque over at LG, guessing Ramona said this today as she's co-hosting Mason & Ireland

Also, Isaiah Thomas is gone if they get Hayward and George isn't he? They can't pay those 3 guys max money.
