The feeling I get in regards to Lebron... He absolutely loves the city, but hates the owner. The owner also just keeps making things worse. Does he really want to play under this guy/help him out for the rest of his career? Even if he wins this year, it would almost seem like it is even more of a reason for him to leave. The talent on the team might be good, the fans and city he might love, but that upper management is toxic.
Stephen A. Smith claims Paul George would re-sign with the Cavaliers if LeBron re-signed then there as well. It's Stephen A. Smith so take it with a grain of salt. Highly doubt LeBron remains in Cleveland anyway.
@real: my concern has never been that people were misrepresenting the current situation (george wants to come to la). it's that people change their minds. and that LOTS of people are going to be working on george, day and night, for the next year to get their pitch in. john wall, chris paul, lebron, lillard, harden, maybe hayward. at some point, it's quite possible he backs off the lakers-or-bust stance, at which point it's not really desperation time, it's game over. this is why i was disappointed to see pritchard's stance on the situation. i'm just not confident that george can play a full season somewhere else and just bolt. if it goes terribly (like howard's season in la did), then sure. but that's a long shot, and was just TERRIBLE luck for the lakers.
Since the plan is to save cap sapce for two max contracts for 2018, I was looking at the 2018 Free Agent List. I don't buy into the media narrative that Lebron wants to come to LA in 2018. If he does, I can see him going to the Clippers instead of LA. What I do think the two most likely superstars that would have the highest chance of signing with the Lakers would be Paul George and........ DeMarcus Cousins, who at last year's trade deadline, Magic Johnson expressed he really wanted to trade for. I understand he's a headcase and coach killer, but he is dominate when focused. What is everyone's thoughts on a lineup of: Cousins/Zubac Randle/Nance George Ingram Ball I think they become western conference final contenders to be honest with you.....
There was a completely opposite report from a more reputable source but I'd have to find it. I'm on my phone now, I'll look later.
I have not heard enough evidence that George has changed his stance. In fact I haven't heard any evidence that's happened yet. My point is if it gets there, you tackle it. George and his agent have orchestrated this entire scenario. If things change, they'll let us know. If he falls in love with Boston, so be it.
If Cousins leaves the Pelicans it's likely because he and Davis couldn't fit together. If they can't fit I highly doubt he and Randle fit either unless the latter massively improves his three point shot not to mention his defense. I'd still gladly take Cousins, but might have to move Randle for a better fit at PF.
http://www.slamonline.com/nba/lebron-james-never-clippers/#jBBBjkJkYd1LdyM5.97 You can almost find a source that will say anything about anything these days. Want a sound bite to fit a narrative? It's probably out there.
You know when you misspell a simple word, but can't figure out what's up, but you know it's wrong? Yeah, that's been happening to me lately. LOL at that error, but thanks.
It's possible the same reason DAR isn't here could be why we won't ever consider Demarcus. Just a theory. I'd rather have Brook Lopez and Zubac actually.
Please, no Cousins. We need steady team not a whining, cry baby, malcontent. If the Lakers got rid of Dlo for being an a**clown, then bringing in someone like Cousins contradicts the trade.
I've said it before that Klay is the perfect fit for this team, even more so that LBJ and certainly more so than Westrbook. But I just don't see Klay leaving GSW and yes I know he's not a FA till Summer '19 and a lot can change but we can only go off of reports we've heard so far and Woj. has said everyone he's talked to has said Klay wants to stay with GSW long term
