Yeah. I mean, the guaranteed contracts are only like 1 or 2 million, but still, we need more substantial help than fringe benchwarmers. If we flip those two picks into one late teens pick and grab a great shooter, it will make this D-lo trade MUCH easier to swallow.
Fair enough. I still feel the better move was to play this slowly and spend the entire off-season trying to unload Russell for a better return, and only use him to salary dump if the start of training camp was looming. I can't imagine his value would drop any lower by August, unless he has a serious offense that could come out in the media at any moment and bring his value to literally nothing.
I think many media members know but they're not breaking the story out of respect for the kid's life. It seems to me something serious without being criminal so maybe not worth dragging the kid through the mud just because he's a dipstick young man.
Clarkson / Nance / #27 / #28 / future 2nd for PG13 That's probably my max deal that I'm good with today. Black too if they want him. It seems Lonzo / Ingram / Zubac is the FOs core going forward, so they might as well just get things moving on it. Wouldn't be surprised to see a Randle/Deng dump.
I think we had to dump either Deng or Mozgov, but not both. We now have the cap space to sign two max FA's in 2018, so dumping Deng would be more of a luxury than a necessity at this juncture.
real's asking for a lot of people to be decent simultaneously. if people in other FOs know...what kinds of secrets are both a) that serious and b) actually kept. i refuse to believe his value was low because they simply think he can't play. as khmer mentioned, many very good pgs looked much worse at the same age and experience level.
stretching one is also better than stretching two. dumping mozgov was big, no doubt. i just still have nightmares about the past few years of FA.
Man, if we send Jules, Zu and the pick to the Pacers im not watching a single game. I live by the highlights anyway but eff this.
If Pacers is playing hard to get, then let them have PG for 1 year than have us pay half the price of his worth under normal trade circumstances. Screw them. But it wouldn't shock me if Magic does yield to their obstinate approach in this trade negotiation. Sent from my E6533 using Tapatalk
There is two scenarios that will happen, both leave most Laker fans pissed off. 1. We don't get Paul George this year. 2. We get Paul George but give up "too much" for him.
I much prefer scenario 1, both for the short and long term. Scenario 2 - we aren't winning jack ish with Julius + Clarkson gone.
Tell you what. If the Lakers could dump Deng and the draft picks this year without giving up anymore players of worth, I would be willing to wait for George to come next summer. Lakers would get rid of all the mistakes and still keep all their guys and then get the guys they want next year. And they woudn't have any bad contracts
I'm just reading between the lines and the Ramona summary just kind confirms it for me. The current FO has no ties to anyone on this roster currently, they've picked their youngsters going forward (Lonzo/Ingram/Zu) and will use the rest to get freedom to make the moves they want. Somewhere along the lines the FO changed from patience and time to getting in a frenzy for stars.
