If we draft Ball (and looking so)...Johnson likely foresaw how it was going to be like between he and Russell. Then they gave him the Norm Nixon treatment just without accomplishing something together first. I still wanted to see how the pairing would have meshed.

Actually, dumping mosgov and getting Brooks and 27th is better than getting the 9th pick. Not even close in my book. You have a competent center who actually knows how to play. You get rid of an albatross and you add another 1st rounder.

Lakers need to start winning. More draft picks and getting more 20 year olds that aren't game changers isn't gonna do anything.

C Bags had all these stupid mid to late draft picks for 3 years, they didn't start winning until horford and IT came on board.

This is a vet league. Lakers have enough young pups, they need superstars in their prime and vets who can contribute asap.

I was semi fan but I'm quite disappointed that Dlo didn't do enough or kept with the same attitude to get traded like this, really really sad.

I would have preferred the 9th pick. A guy like Malik Monk might be around that slot. If the George deal didn't go through, we still would have had a shot at adding a good player to the team.

Lopez is a big expiring contract that we can flip at trade deadline or let it expire. #9 is a guaranteed contract for many years. I do like Monk though.

That covered all of my feelings and fears. Going for the immediate gratification over sustainability. I do not want this team of George, LeBron, and whoever to form, because when it's run its course, if we haven't won a title, we will be starting from scratch again with zero to show for it. Do I want George? Absolutely, along with another YOUNG star hopefully, and some guys that can be with this team for a long, long time, possibly Ingram and Ball. I'm not for reloading with big names every few years, I want a team I can root for for a decade like the fans of the 80's got, and like what I got when I became a fan in the early 90's.

:This: to what Weezy said above.

To the Kam Bros piece and their tweeted disclaimer about the haste in which it was written, I couldn't find one thing that did not flow well in the thoughts. No editing required and me too I agree with all of it.

I have to LOL at some of these comments treating Russell like the return of Jesus Christ. If he was as GOOD as we think he is, why didn't we get a better return for him??? Maybe other organizations felt the same way like we do. Pelinka has been in this business for a long time, and he's definitely no dummy. I trust him more than any of the keyboard GMs on here.

Russell has some upside but he also has plenty of holes in his offensive game: limited athleticism/speed, a non-existent defensive game, and a hell of an attitude/maturity/work ethic problem for a kid that was handed the keys to the p&g kingdom. Not to mention his suspect 21 year old knee. It would’ve been great to see if he could grow with another year but Laker fans certainly overlooked the glaring problems he had for the "future of the franchise".

I agree Weezy, I was sold on the idea of having a young core and then gradually adding pieces to that core for slow but long term transformation. I HATE the idea of putting all our hopes on an old Lebron or even consistently reloading with ring chasers. I do have hope that at least, Ingram and Lonzo(or whomever) remain our long term pieces that we can watch grow.

It hurts to see Russell go I won't lie. I think he still has star potential, but he never have ever realized it with the Lakers and may never realize it with the Nets or he could just be one of those players who puts up great numbers on terrible teams, but never has any real impact.

I'm fine with PG13 and another established star to go with Ingram, Ball and Zu. When pg13 and the other one leave, Ingram, Ball and Zu should be well versed in how to win and lead a team.
