Well he hasn't opted out yet. It might behoove him to stay if there's a starting position open to him and Lonzo Ball on the roster eager to find him. And Lord knows we need the shooting.

Swaggy has to notify Lakers tomorrow if he's taking $5 million contract or being a UFA.

Swaggy opting in is the missing piece in the PG trade.

I tried to delete my post because it was incomplete as I was rushing off somewhere. But yea, my full post would have been whether Swaggy should stay now that DLO is out. At the very least there will be more minutes, but would cap space be at risk. I figure he would not get much on the open market, so it might not be a bad idea for him to stay and maybe sign him next year. I just see Swag as wanting to be here for Magic and the possibilities of what this team will become within the next 2 years.

I have a strong feeling he'll opt out. If he stays, given the way the Lakers jettisoned D'Angelo, I imagine Nick is traded. I don't think they're on board for the goofy-fun guy. They want the serious winner types.

I do think as a player he makes sense though. We desperately could use his shooting especially with D'Angelo gone.

If the lakers don't get George, no way you let swaggy go. We have no one who can shoot. Lou and Dlo are gone and Clarkson sucks for 3 out of every 5 games.

It's not a matter of letting him go. He has a player option and can just opt out and sign elsewhere.

Goofy or not, there is no one on the market who can do what he can do for 5 mil per.

Our center position is now nailed Dow for the next 10 years with legit 7 footers with range and solid D. (Rebounding still questionable)

I see Brook starting while Zubac develops. Once FA hits, does he walk away? Oh no! He becomes 5th man on an All NBA starting 5 with Magic Ball, PG, (Lebron or Westbrook), and Ingram. ITS a great gig with lots of easy looks.

The picks we will need for quality cheap depth that will get a year of seasoning and playing time before those guys arrival.

Culture improves. CAp space cleared. Moz didn't want to be here.

Pretty freakin brilliant move. CAnt wait to see what else they do. DAR wasn't going to lead us to the promised Land. It's obvious the FO values the attributes of a BI much more than what DAR offered.

Would not be surprised to see Julius next actually.

So this is what it's like to have a bold and innovative think outside the box Front Office. I like!

And we'll find shooters. THEY don't want Nick Young back. Not a fit for the culture they are building. But if he opts in, trade Julius, Deng, and Nick for something shiny.

    (Maybe Kevin Love) lol

One frustrating aspect of this for me is that I know I'm going to be sensitive about DLo for years to come like I am with Bynum. Two of the few young players I've gotten to see develop and was really pulling for. But I know, like Bynum, the fanbase and media is going to forget about all the positives and run with the narrative that he's lazy/bad attitude/cocky, and I'm going to feel obligated to defend him whenever that BS comes up.

No one can hear you yelling DAR

Playing for the greatest franchise in all of sports is a responsibility not to be taken lightly. I wish we had mentored you better, and wish you were more ready for the honor and privilege of the opportunity.

Hope this turns out to be a win win for both parties eventually
