you gota be a total A-hole though to get trade like this, if there new mgmt in place and you been told whats the expectations are going to be and still get on their bad side, it means you really didnt care to be here IMO. Still a bad trade but just think Dlo is probably a lot worse behind closed doors then we realized.

Magic and Rob needed to be more patient. Unless they make a related secondary trade today, there was absolutely no reason to dump Russell right now in this manner. They will regret selling Russell low instead of waiting for his value to climb next season. They poorly played their hand and the Lakers are now down an asset for very little return.

Ok. Pacers have their 2 firsts and a starter in Clarkson or Randle. Get George NOW please. My stomach hurts

Looks like they're not in it for the long game. Too bad Bron, George and the kids that are left are not beating GSW.

If we gave up Russell, it's those 27/28 and DENG. NOTHING MORE.

I sort of agree with this. There must be more to the story than we as fans see. I think in our glass sphere we felt D'Angelo's value was somewhere it simply wasn't. There's got to be more to this story.

Re: the agent question- I think if I'm D'Angelo's agent this is a way better spot for him actually. He's going to get a chance to go nuts over there and try to be Devin Booker now.

Re: the Lakers- boy they better have those back channel hook-ups all figured out. If this backfires and they don't get Paul/LeBron or worse yet don't get either, they're in a for at least 5 more years of struggles.

the only way this can be justified aside from being the precursor to PG is that there was a major attitude problem with russ. perhaps they didn't like what they were seeing and concluded that there was no way it could be fixed. maybe they were sold on ball after his interviews and preferred to have him step into the leadership role they didn't see russ filling

I know someone who's very close to the team (yeah yeah, you can disregard it all you want) but he told me something very confidential about Russell that relates to his character and that to date, has not been publicly disclosed. I won't say what it was because that would be a violation of the guy's privacy (frankly, I shouldn't have been told) but I will tell you that it was EXTREMELY concerning and I can understand why they didn't want to keep him. Having said that, I wish to god they had gotten more value from him. My only point is that you should trust me (random guy on internet whom none of you have met in person) that he was DEFINITELY NOT a person you want on the roster going forward.

why is everyone certain lebron's coming?

in fact, the only way this move makes sense is if lebron is coming NOW. you'd sell your best asset for a chance at offering lebron in a year? nah, brah. only lebron and george next week makes this make sense.

That's sort of what I'm saying: they had better be convinced that he's on the way. If he's not on the way, this looks bad. AT LEAST Paul George needs to get here asap.

I'm a bit shocked, but not mad at all.

I struggled to like Russell the whole time he was a Laker. I saw the talent, but from day one, I've said I don't know that he will ever turn the corner and become the player that he could be just because of his "you can't tell me anything" attitude. I'm not surprised they wanted to get him off the team, and yes, this was essentially a salary dump.

I think I trust Luke, Magic and Rob on this one. Dlo's attitude is why he's gone IMO.
