Snagged Brook Lopez and his $22,642,350 expiring contract while shedding Moz. Also picked up the #27 overall pick in this year's draft while moving on from D'Angelo Russell. More wheelings & dealings are afoot, methinks...
man and here I thought they weren't desperate to dump contracts. This is a desperate move to dump contracts
I sure hope so, I don't want Lopez playing on this team next year. Giant stiff, he can score but his rebounding is pathetic for a 7 footer.
Didn't see this at all i do like lopez but im just not sure abt this one... does it screw our chances with pg? Didnt he prefer to play with randle n russ
I don't actually mind Brook Lopez. I think he's a solid player. He added range to his game. But he's not part of our long-term plans anyway... This is... a crazy move.
Like that Moz' awful contract is off the books. Got 27th pick and Brook's expiring back. Too bad it cost us D'Lo
First of all we took care of our ex-Lakers. We didn't send the kid to Siberia...we sent him to his hipster sanctuary. I never liked dude's attitude, but he was a Laker and we took care of him. Seeing how George and DLo share agents, I'm sure that the way we took care of his client will have his agent only singing our endorsement for George to come on home. We all knew that Deng and Moz were bad deals and one last bird aka magic wand that Mitch and Jimmy flipped to us on the way out. This was a necessary evil if we wanted to pair George with another stud to compete in a superteam league. My guess is that we want Paul now cause we get his bird rights and have the flexibility to maneuver with his contract without the salary cap tying our hands as we add another foundational piece via 2018 free agency. We cleared cap for 2018 shopping and gained the 27th pick to pair with the 28th to either pursue a George trade or move up in the draft to get a higher pick. If that domino does not drop, then we have a great tradeable asset in Lopez that we will be able to offer to any team next season at the trade deadline that feels they are one piece away. If all else, Lopez expires next summer and you know players will be sacrificing a bit of their pay to come tag team and play for us next summer. The main point is that we created THAT option which we did not have. DLo was not a foundational piece IMHO. At the very least, it looks like with this move, we're going to need a PG....possibly 2. And like that LakersBALL takes on a whole new meaning. You a genius, Barns!
As for actual basketball, I actually like how a Randle/Lopez frontcourt compliments each other. (Until we trade Randle for PG tomorrow, that is.)
