That's hard to gauge because Kidd makes his teammates better. Jefferson and Martin had career numbers when playing next to Kidd. For our team, I'd take Kidd in a heartbeat. Russell, Ingram and Randle would score effortlessly with Kidd at the point.
For Smith it's all in his head and his approach. He has a lot of talent, but anyone who has watched him play can tell you that he's just not in the game all the time. If you hate watching our young guys turn the ball over with lazy plays, Dennis Smith is going to make you crazy. I'm not sure he actually enjoys playing basketball. If he can find a coach that gets his head straight though, he'll be a good player. @abeer3 I compare him to Bledsoe in the same way that he's a super talented kid that probably won't do much in the league.
I don't give Nick that much credit as a leader. If he influenced DAR or Clarkson, it's because it's what they wanted. I don't see Nick getting Randle or BI or Zubac off track. They need to take responsible for themselves as young adults. Nick's a goofball. If they followed him, so are they.
That doesn't explain your irrational Russell hate though and dismissal of his potential going forward for this Lakers team. We'll know come opening night if he's healthy just how badly he wants to be a Laker by the strides he's made since Magic threw down the gauntlet. If he's all in then you keep him.
I hate Russell because Lakers could have drafted a better option, his lack of effort, laziness, and he's smug thinking he's the man when he isn't ! Typical Millennial! I do think he has great range on his shots and I am hoping the Lakers draft Ball so Russell can play his true position of SG.
So wait...you're implying that people need to take responsibility for their own actions? That Nick Young didn't hold a gun to their head to force them down this path? What kind of craziness is this! People aren't responsible for what they do. It's always someone else...or something else. If someone's overweight, it's obvious the cheeseburgers climbed into their mouth while they were asleep.
You probably should talk to someone about that Tough as Russell isn't going anywhere There is no such thing as Millenialls, that moniker has been given by the lazy media and advertisers
I'm a fan so I'm allowed to hate or like any player. I like Ingram should I talk to someone about that? He doesn't need to go anywhere as long as he produces. Right no such thing as baby boomers, gen-x etc
In one of your tradegasms about a month ago you had I believe Clarkson, Randle and BI ALL going for Porzingis. It was 3 key young guys including Randle and BI. Maybe even Russell instead of Clarkson but I can't imagine even you being that deep into Zinger's jock.
Who was the better draft option? Okafor, Porzingis, Booker? I'm pretty sure you're going to say Porzingis because you're willing to trade a bunch of our young players for him. He was an unknown when he was drafted. Nobody knew he was going to be this good, New York blasted Phil for it.
Is this a trick question? Booker. But I can see someone arguing for Porzingis because of the potential still there. Heck, even Booker isn't all done improving yet.
Not necessarily a trick question but I should have reworded it to "at the time of the draft". We were praised for drafting Russell, an inspired pick considering how his game fits into today's league. Opinions change after two seasons of production but you can't use what you know now to go back and change what you saw then. Revisionist history and all that jazz.
Porzingis is a smoke screen. Look deeper into the numbers and he's not much more impressive than Russell. The only thing I've seen in his favor is a little more consistency of effort and of course he's 7'3", but he's really not much better than Russell. If he was playing in Charlotte instead of New York, you don't hear much of him. I'd take Booker over Russell at this point, but I still think Russell has more potential long-term.
@LTLakerFan , please refrain from further baiting posts directed his way. No problem with disagreeing and even exposing the weaknesses you see in his positions, but language like "one of your tradegasms", or "you being that deep into Zinger's jock" are personal comments that have nothing to do with the actual point and only tend to inflame the wrong kind of exchange. http://lakersball.com/pages/Rules/
