This will be an interesting summer, so far the stars are lining up. We got the pick, we have money for a free agent, George is hanging in Los Angeles and going on Kimmel working out with Kobe, and he doesn't make all NBA team.... Hmmmm everything sounds perfect so far
Things are starting to line up in our favor. I think we should wait (and I'll probably think the opposite tomorrow), its a gamble but we are in a good position. If we get any inkling that another team is willing to gamble on a one year rental, we should probably then make a move depending on that team. I think come this upcoming trade deadline, we'll get PG for JC, Deng and future picks.
Yeah, I mean, I like PG. I like him as a player, as someone who actively WANTS to be here. I want him here. But this isn't LeBron or Curry or Westbrook....this isn't a "1 shot at a player of this caliber" deal. If he makes the All NBA next year for Indy, bully for them. But I'm giving up nothing to get him. He's an adult, if he wants to be here over everything then he will be here. To me, I have a hard enough time making my roster better, I'm not gonna make 2 rosters better if I don't have to. And I don't think I have to. Edit:
I have always liked barter. Kobe is PGs idol .... check. PG is going to accept Kobe's time to make him a better player. Kobe has a freaking basketball floor / gym in his house. PG needs to talk through the back channels (like Bridge Of Spies) .... meaning Kobe while he's working out with him and assure himself of always having Kobe's house and Kobe Bryant to always go hang with .... by giving Kobe the assurances we need not to be giving up any of our more valuable talent. Would not suck as well if Kobe were to schedule some of these practice sessions with Brandon Ingram there as well. Geezus you have me doing it trodgers .... salivating thinking of Lonzo Ball, D. Russell, Paul George, Julius Randle, Brandon Ingram and Ivica Zubac for "starters" to build around. Oh my. No doubt in playoffs going forward, I think, whether PG is here or not next season.
PG the Laker spy Demands trade to BOS where they give up assets to get him. Plays mediocre season and lose to Lebron's Cavs anyways. Sign with the Lakers the next season. Boston loses assets for nothing. Profit!
In all seriousness. I would hope the Lakers can trade for PG now if the Pacers are willing to get something in return. Pacers got the cap space and can absorb Deng. If they want the Lakers to take back an extra contract then I'd be open to Al Jefferson who has only 1 yr left and a team option at $10mm So JC (3 yrs @ $12.5mm) + Deng (3 yrs @$18mm) + #28 pick
