The Kimmel interview was stronger than this.

Wait when PG keep tweeting about his work out Kobe. Live tweets I mean. The guy is basically his God. One word from Kob and the job's done. Lol. Wish it's that simple.

I saw the whole Kimmel Interview. It is what it is at this point. We aren't guaranteed anything. Tomorrow when the All-NBA Teams are announced we'll certainly know more from where we stand.

'Means nothing' I think is more appropriate here. All NBA won't change anything imo. He is already earning more money than 10 people could spend in their lifetime.

Yeah I'm not sure the All-NBA thing is a silver bullet and I've read as much. Paul has a foot out the door. If I'm Indy, I honestly trade him now. I don't wait around anymore and continue this charade. I get the best deal I can for him and I let this go. I don't want to go into the season messing around with "is he staying?" or "did we do enough to keep him?" or "will it take 200 million? is he worth 200 million?"

I trade him now to whatever team gives me the most. If that's the Lakers, so-be-it. If that's the C Bags, so-be-it. Give me 2 1sts and a good prospect. That'd be my "buy now" price.

We'll hear some trade negotiations soon enough. If it's anything, All NBA is somehow a leverage Pacers could use to demand more. It somehow goes with a notion that PG would be inclined more to stay than he was before that 200m wasn't still in play. The exchange value of PG would increase then by a cent in every bucks.

    Like I said, means nothing.

He'll make that money plus more in Los Angeles in endorsements alone.

We're talking a difference of 70 million guaranteed dollars. It's not a given he makes that up anywhere he goes, including LA.

Still, if he's in LA he's probably making back a good chunk of that. If he has some success, then maybe he makes that money back.

I don't think the All-NBA team "means nothing". It guarantees him a ton more money. Now will Indiana tie up that much cap space for one player? Who knows considering they are a small market team.

Exactly which is why it's almost a guarantee PG will be leaving them. Because if they're not sure PG deserves that contract, it goes without saying it's certain they will not be spending money to provide PG with a support he deserves.

Here Pincus outlines basically what I said: the Lakers hold many keys here and there's a lot of factors at play. As of right now, we have no need to rush to trade the #2 pick to the Pacers. The key is: who else is bidding? As long as George is scaring teams away, there's no urgency for us to blow up the roster to get Paul George. Unless another team comes in and says "f*** it, let's blow this thing up and go get George and dare him to leave", we've got all the power.

Paul George could have killed this ages ago, but he didn't. He didn't kill it on live television. Do you realize how easily he could have told Kimmel, "No, I'm happy in Indiana. I love it there. I don't plan to leave the Pacers." Even if it was a lie, it would have been simple!

So here's the kicker (and Pincus agrees): if there's no other bidders, why are we giving up anything of value? Why are we trading #2, Ingram, Russell, or even Randle? Pincus's first offer (again assuming there's no other serious bids) is #28, Clarkson (for salary), and Black. Is that a lowball? Of COURSE, but if there's no other serious bids, what do you do? Let George walk for nothing and get no one? Right now (especially without the All-NBA lists) they'll say "no thanks" and hang up scoffing. In a month when Paul George is still over here probably going on Ellen's show talking about the Lakers again, if I'm Pritchard I call Rob and say "give me that package, a second, and a protected 1st and let's just move on".

    :This:

Give me at least until the trade deadline with the talented young core and new FO directive to see who has what it takes to be a real "Laker" and how much they have improved, plus the couple of allegedly pissed off veterans that want playing time back (unless maybe one is gone .... unlikely).

Agreed. I do think it will take more than the 28th and Clarkson. 28, Randle and Clarkson is probably the minimum it will take, but that's fine. We'd have George and Ingram as our forwards, able to switch it up with Nance coming off the bench. Russell and Ball in the backcourt. It's a nice start, especially since it should preserve a lot of cap space in 2018.
