I'm confused...so jr smith and iman shumpert for waiters is the deal?

and lol at reggie Jackson being part of it...

anyway, I think Cleveland would need to add a bit of salary. imo, shumpert alone is worth more than waiters, who appears to be kind of a giant bust.

edit: omg, shouldn't have doubted woj. apparently Jackson to the knicks? is okc just throwing in the towel on the season? wow.

double edit: woj now says Jackson not part of deal, and order is restored to the universe.

    Cleveland in: Shumpert/JR Smith
    Thunder in: Dion Waiters
    New York in: Reggie Jackson

Well New York wins that one rather handily.

LOL Cleveland. That team isn't any better than before. Smith is going to kill that team.

Thunder got their James Harden if Waiters can buy in off the bench

New York was just like give me the best player in the deal and we will run for the hills.

So as it stands - with the knicks not getting Reggie Jackson.

J.R Smith had an extra year at 5 million on his contract next year - The Knicks get rid of money and a player/negative team mate. With Amare coming off the books, they have a lot of money to spend and the tank for a draft pick is in full effect. Iman Shumpert was sombebody I thought would be added to sweeten the deal and get rid of JR Smith when I was tampering with the trade machine. Iman is no real loss. The second rounder is a modest asset gain for them.

Knicks will get lance Thomas, Alex Kirk and Lou Amundsen in the deal - expected to waive all three. Also getting future second rounder.

Dion Walters added to Thunder. The thinking would be to strengthen the Thunder at SG. It seems to be a calculated risk knowing now Reggie Jackson stays with them.

Cleveland get rid of a player Lebron hates. A move to lift chemistry. Shumpert has a defensive reputation which I think is based more on the fact his offense is weak ( and he has to be good at something right). Ironically I talked about a chemistry move and JR Smith is who they bring in. A risk to say the least, Blatt better watch out. I still think the Cavs are better for this year, but have an even smaller cap next year. Maybe they are trying to gather some pieces in case Lebron goes runaway bride.

Knicks win .........Cavs next........Thunder third place in terms of the trade.

Actually if the Josh Smith effect relates to all Smiths look for New York to start winning with J.R Smith gone form NY. Just kidding the Knicks look worse than the 76'ers right now.

Knicks made out like bandits here. Got rid of JR Smith's contract AND got pick from OKC. Not sure if it's a first or second rounder but still. What do you bet they will make an announcement soon that Melo is shutting it down for the season because of his knee? Knicks will have Melo, a great pick, AND $30 million to spend this summer. This is exactly the kind of deal the Lakers needed but Phil beat them to it. Frustrating. The Lakers are gonna have a tough time convincing free agents to come here when the Knicks have Melo, a young talent like Towns or Okafor, and tons of cash to spend.

CLE got all that for Dion waiters basically...... Get the F Out of here.

Still surprised they didnt go after a big man for Waiters, they need front court help not perimeter guys necessary. With JR on that team now I especially dont want to see them succeed.

Wait, so Cleveland needs a C and they get 2 guards? Also, they move a supposed bad chemistry guy and chucker in Waiters for JR Smith? Lol, that's not a lateral move, that's getting a KNOWN chucker with attitude. Don't get this trade.

yeah, weird trade for all. the knicks gave up shumpert to dump smith; the thunder grab a guy who can't shoot and has no playoff experience, and the cavs pick up a chemistry killer. at least Cleveland nabbed a decent first rounder (okc's pick should be conveyed to them and should be around #20) and got shumpert, who might still have a little upside.

I don't get what Cleveland is doing here, but I guess LaBron is teaching a lesson in all of this somehow....

    OKC won this trade IMO

I actually like this trade for every team.

For OKC, they get some more bench offense which was badly needed, and a SG to close out games.
For NYK, they get rid of two guys that I think were hurting them more than helping them, a pick, and I think Kirk actually has some real potential as a 3pt-shooting and good passing big man for the triangle (I watched him play in high school).
For CLE, they get rid of Dion who was hurting their chemistry. I think Shumpert will probably start, and it will be a great role for him since he will not need to do hardly anything on offense. I think Smith might actually help the chemistry for them, since he's know LeBron for a while and of course everyone bows down to the King. He's a very skilled player who in the right role (which I think this is) and the right tutelage (King James knows all) might do just what the Cavs need. Of course they still need a C.

Cleveland made out; the main part of the deal is them adding a young, good perimeter defender on the wing next to Lebron and Irving. That helps. If Smith screws his head on straight, they added a 6th man that could score; all the while, they added another 'heavily' protected first round pick from OKC that can be used in another transaction to fetch a Center; they also have the Memphis first round pick totaling 2.
