His skinny frame, IMO has actually helped him to drive to the basket, since he's able to "get skinny", slip past a defender, do a euro-step with his super long legs, and extend his long arm to make the layup or scoop shot.

Kinda how he does it on this fast break getting past Mbah a Moute in the Clippers game.

It's amazing he's teaching himself this sort of positioning at 19 years old. Honestly. Our other kids are learning how to mature, how to take threes, and how to pass the ball. Ingram could be really special.

Now a firm believer of Ingram being our future franchise player, I wonder what kind of moves we should be making.

The right move would be to stand pat imho. Ideally, we'd want as many assets as possible when Ingram hits age 23 (2020) Until then, we shouldn't be trading for "fair" or "equal" value, unless the asset we're getting in return will retain it's value in 3 years. George? maybe. Butler? probably not. Trading Russell or Randle for them may make us somewhat relevant in the short-term, but it's not a move to make if the goal is to start building a contender in 2020.

I'd like to keep players that have a good chance of increasing their value. I'd say those players are Russell, Randle, Zubac, JC and Nwaba (and the top 3 pick, if we keep it) Everyone else can go.

Nance and Black are great role players but their ceiling is limited, meaning trading them will not hurt us in the long run. That puts Nance, Black, Hou 1st, Deng, Mozgov on the trading block. I'm not sure what that will fetch us but I'm not making any desperation moves this summer (ie Randle/JC/Top3 for PG13)

As bad as we've been this year, I just feel fortunate we kept our pick last year and finally got our prize, a franchise player, out of the draft.

This same team next yr even with a top 3 pick will still be bottome 3, they have shown very little to be optimistic that they'll be good

We aren't a bottom 3 team. We shut down Mozgov/Young/Deng, and traded Lou. We'd be much closer to 30 wins if we weren't tanking.

We were, but we wouldn't be a bottom 3 team either.

I know how you feel about Mozgov to which I disagree, and Young would also make a difference, but yes, we do need to upgrade.

regardless of how I feel about Mozgov, we are a bad team with or without him.

For those who have organized bball xp....would there be any issues for Ingram @ the sg position? Reason i ask is if we managed to get pg13 without Ingram involved could he thrive and develop as a sg with pg13 next to him @ the sf spot? We're seeing ingram taking and more of his height advantage when hes being guarded by smaller sg, like against the clipps with reddick/crawford on him. Notice same against dallas when they put curry on him.

I'm not positive he could defend SGs long-term. I think Ingram can guard them in stretches, but putting him there full time would be a mistake. If anything, I'd be more tempted to put him on PFs once he's gained a little more strength.

See your point about full time guarding of SGs though I liked Khmer's musing about that if PG comes. What the hell do we do with Ingram then if PG is SF? I wince at the thought of Tiny Dog even with 15 more pounds on him having to play PF full time.

You dont think his length could make up for the speed issues? I assume thats your concern with his d against sg?

I'm concerned about foot speed yeah. He's good against SFs and would be fantastic against PFs. Against SGs? He'd be okay. The other factor of course is chasing smaller guys around all game, trying to get that long frame through screens, etc. It's a tougher assignment for him.

@LTLakerFan I wouldn't want him there full time. He'd be there to start and end games in order to create the mismatch. I'd pull him with about 6 minutes in the 1st for a more traditional PF, let's say Nance. Then put Ingram back in when we pulled George out.
