By all means, I am not a shooting expert; maybe another poster can shed more light...

I agree that his shot needs to improve. He's a solid FT and 3pt shooter, and I see no reason to think he won't continue to improve. Mostly he needs to attack when the outside shot isn't there.

He played a maddening first quarter. After that he was pretty awesome.

He's the most frustrating player to watch. SOOOO inconsistent. But glad he's having a few of these types of games so that IF we do look to trade him....people will be thinking of these types of games.

Funny thing is...I actually think his ceiling is Mike Conley..another lefty out of OSU...

Luke brought up that D'Angelo did a great job of getting back into the game even after his tough start. I agree. The last two years Russell has really struggled to fight back into games. Today the kid was great bouncing back and he really did a tremendous job affecting the game. If he played this well (along with Randle and Ingram) we may not have to resort to blowing the kids up.

Yes. Usually when he gets off to a bad start that's a wrap for him but tonight he really bounced back. That was encouraging.

Agreed. As bullish as I am on Russell's future, it's always been frustrating that his games always seem to go how his 1st quarter goes. Was incredibly encouraging to see him shake off a TRBL start to be our best player and lead us to a *gulp* victory.

DLo's play lately has me dreaming of him being paired up with Ball or Fultz, which of course means it won't happen. Haha

What I see is different and Luke brought it up in his post game press conference was Russell is finding other ways to impact the game despite not shooting well the last few games. Luke loved his play against the Clippers when Russell was 1-8 or 1-9 shooting. Its true though I can see he is more engaged throughout the game even on the bench. Good to see.

    Stole this off of FaceBook:

For those of you who don't think D'Angelo is a special player, here's Russell's 2nd year stats compared to Ginobili's 2004-5 ALL-STAR season stats.

Yeah, but Manu was only 27 at the time and in only his third season.

Pffft! Classic case of how stats mean nothing. Ginobili impacted his team as a sparkplug. Our guy meh

That comparison is just plain disrespectful. Comparing Russell to Ginobili, a 4-time champion, in his prime? Russell could never average those numbers as the 2nd or 3rd option on the Spurs. I don't care what the stats says, he isn't half the player Ginobili was. That's pure garbage.

DAR is lucky he was drafted by a team so devoid of talent. On a team like the spurs, he would've had a red shirt rookie year. He'd have never gotten off the bench most likely.

    Real talk.

Honestly, if DAR went to SA now, he'd be third or fourth best, and he wouldn't lost numbers worse than he's doing here. And he's half a decade younger than Gino was. Nowhere near the defender, but far more than half the player. Severely underrated.
