I have little doubt if the Lakers keep their pick, the trade is happening this summer. I can feel it. And no, Bird will not just take randle, clarkson and houston's 1. Not in a million years. He will want that top 3, probably top 2 pick to get this done. Then, when you have PG this summer, go after Biff HARD. If you think Russell makes nice passes now, wait til he has PG running on one end and Blake on the other on a fast break. Russell would start averaging 8-10 assists a game.

So it seems as if George and Jimmy Butler both want out. Anyway we keep both while keeping DAR and Ingram?

    JC/2017 Lakers first for PG
    JR/2017 Houston 1st/our 191st for Butler

Love the thought, but I doubt it. We probably need to give up more to get either.

    Revised:
    JC/2017 First/Nance/Zubac for PG13
    JR/2019First/2017Houston1st/Future Seconds?for JB

Not sure if we have future seconds, but a starting line up of
    1. DAR
    2. Butler
    3. PG
    4. Ingram
    5. Whoever

    That's a playoff team.

With Ingram and PG13 on the same team I would rather keep Zubac instead of having to include him in a deal for Butler.

That's how much I think of Zubac and his future. Plus I think its a little redundant to have PG13, Ingram, and Butler.

yeah, from a team-building perspective, i think you get one of george/butler (i prefer george) and try to find a different kind of player to complement the first. i don't like too many ball-dominant wings. one ball-dominant, allstar caliber wing is good, though.

On the defensive end, this team would be able to switch every pick and roll. Pretty sure the ball-dominant wings would learn how to play in a system that insists on ball movement.

Chicago gets hosed in that deal. Julius Randle and a couple mid teens to high 20s draft picks? For us to land Butler and George, we'd need to keep our pick and trade it and give up at least one of Ingram and Russell.

I don't think we'd need to give up the pick and one of JC and Ingram. And I don't think we would give up one. We keep the pick, we have tons of leverage.

How about just wait it out until PG is a free agent or when the pacers become desperate at the trade deadline?

    /Pipe (but not impossible)

We draft Lonzo (keep our pick 55% chance we do)

During the trade deadline PG demands a trade without gutting our team to the Lakers specifically. Trade JC, randle and future picks and that's the best or wait till off season.

Trade top 3 draft pick (if kept) plus luol Deng for a disgruntled Jimmy Butler who's friends with PG, so maybe he can force his way out too.

    Dlo/veteran's min
    Butler/veteran's min
    Ingram/nwaba
    PG/Nance
    Zubac/mozgov

If he demands a trade to the Lakers at the deadline, I'm giving Indiana a toothpick and some old pants. He can sign here in 3 months.

Even if Butler is disgruntled I think it'll be tougher to trade for him. Doesn't he have like 3 years left of his contract and the Bulls don't really have a Myles Turner that the can start a rebuild around.

I dont like idea of Ingram playing pf, hes already rail thin and has issues with sf why put him in situations where he'll get beat up more....even George got annoyed when indy tried to play him at PF

That's why you offer young talent in return for them to build around like either Ball (if kept) or Dlo

In my head I was thinking of getting both Butler and PG this offseason via trade. If we wait for PG would Butler and whatever leftovers be enough to attract him.

I think Ingram goes out, rather than DAR if we are trying to pair PG and Butler.

IF we can get Butler 1st and unload Dung with the pick for Butler and then Sign Biff and make a playoff run it would be enough to entice PG13 IMO. When 2018 comes if JC is part of Butler deal then we just need to stretch waive Mozgov and "should" have enough $ for PG max deal as well so long as he doesn't qualify for the super max.

Supermax only applies to a guy who stays on the same team. Leaving negates the bonus. Boogie Cousins can no longer get the Supermax.

I'm starting to think the Lakers will have a full blitz to FAs this summer. Approach them with the fact that Paul George is coming either this summer or next. Let's see how Magic and Rob find ways to get rid of Deng. They may have to attach a heavily protected future pick to him and ship him off to Minnesota for Pekovic or something.

Some guy from NY is starting rumors that Hayward will sign in Miami. I don't buy it for a second. The best outcome for us obviously is that he signs here. The second best may be if he signs in Boston. That leaves Boston out of the Paul George game and we're the #1 suitors. I'm honestly betting that's why Boston hasn't offered way more yet.

Or just move Ingram to point guard lol imagine that crazy defense on the perimeter.

    Ingram
    Butler
    George
    Nance
    Zubac

That's a great defensive team right there
