The sad thing about that situation was he was recorded reading someone else's evaluation of Deng. Those weren't actually his thoughts, but it made for great news, and it was foolish to read it aloud and have it recorded. ***so I read***

I seriously doubt after playing in the NBA for that long that any white player is racist. Players like Bird often said they associated more with black culture, and were offended if mediocre white players were playing defense against them. That cracks me up, because that is essentially reverse racism.

It just seems that anybody that signs here just ends up sucking and falling off of a cliff...

If we can find a taker for Deng this summer...you do it without thinking twice. Maybe minnesota will be willing to take him this summer after they fail to reach the playoffs again. But Deng has essentially killed his trade value for good I feel....

Maybe Lakers eat Pekovic's last year at $11MM, I think he is just dead money at this point and Cole Aldrich who has $7MM and $7MM left.

Worse than Nash. Deng is taking up cap space when we actually are in a position to sign players. For all but one year of Nash's contract we couldn't sign anyone anyway. Also, Nash wanted to play, but his body just broke. He was also playing at an all-star level the year before. Deng is worthless and was never going to be able to contribute on the court up to the level of his contract. He got paid extra for his "locker room presence" or whatever.

Man, if I"m Deng or Moz, I'd be happy as hell. Early vacation, dont have to deal with the losing and the drama. Thats like your boss telling you he doesn't want to see your face but he still has to pay you hahahaha

I don't know. It's more like, "You still need to show up at the office, but we want you to just sit there unless we need copies made."

Ego blow for sure. They will most likely still be practicing, and working out, but probably won't suit up.

In my opinion, the signing of Nash should have been 2 years instead of 3, that much I agree on. But it only became a bad signing after he broke his leg the second game of the first season with us. From what I remember his first game with us he played well. Its this reason that I actually would argue it wasn't a bad signing. Just should have been 2 yrs as mentioned instead of 3

Tough luck of course that made the contract only worse going forward.

Odds are against it .... with their ages (Deng's alleged) ..... but if both or either are still here after the summer..... if that blow to their professional egos brings either or both to camp looking better next year? Probably not but yeah they've been pro's a long time and have to know they're getting killed by national Media now. Let's see if any pride is left?

I'm not sure it's even a pride thing now. Mozgov is exactly what he's always been, very mediocre. Deng is not what he once was, but is that talent/effort or just father time catching up with him. I'm not mad at either one of the guys as people. They signed contacts that any one of us would have signed. I mean, if the Lakers walked up to me this offseason and offered me a 4yr/80 million contract, as much as I love the Lakers, I'd still send them into cap hell knowing full well I'm not good enough to get off the bench in the D-League.

Deng and Mozgov aren't to blame here. This is all on Mitch, Jim and to an extent Luke because I'm sure he had input on those two signings.

Mozgov's off the hook, IMO. Deng on the other hand with that forged birth certificate . . . He's lying about his age.

If we could prove that, it would certainly void his contract. I wonder if the Lakers have hired a team of lawyers and Private Investigators to do some digging? If not...might be a good idea.

I'd ask Sirron to tweet the suggestion to Magic or Jeanie, but all his Twitter handles have no doubt been blocked from any and all Laker front office employees.

I don't want Deng playing (Mozgov I don't really mind, as he's a fine backup C), but to not play him at all can't be a good thing for any trade value he has at all this summer. If they are shut down during this season, that means they aren't in our future plans, yet Deng seems to me untradeable. The only positive spin I can see from this when offering these guys to other teams is us saying "well, they're super fresh, they got tons of rest last season since they sat when they were healthy". I guess at least you can say they weren't sitting out injured, I guess.

I mean I just don't think there's much they can do to either hurt or help their value at this point...

They are completely dead weight. The only way someone takes them is if they want Ball or Fultz and we attach the draft pick to them.
