Honestly I'd like to see some of the Russell and Clarkson back court together. They don't even practice that way? That's odd to me. They should absolutely tinker with Russell and Clarkson as starters. They have had some chemistry together before - Russell hitting Clarkson on back door cuts.

I mean they have zero to lose. Last night benching Russell was terrible. Let's not repeat that please.

Coffee is for closers. You don't get to make suggestions when you don't come to play.

Sit down and shaddup. Make the most of whatever minutes the coach gives you and prove you deserve to be a Laker next year.

How does he compare to harden his 2nd yr stats wise and eye test? Im rdy to move on, last night there was a play where he got a steal and was getting chased down so he failed on a weak layup attempt, that shows his poor athleticism and lack of speed to boot

So Russell is better in every category basically except FG%. Oh and also didn't play with Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant.

Those numbers can be taken two ways: 1) Russell did more so he's better or 2) Russell had more opportunities.

Harden's usage rate that season was 19.5% compared to Russell's 27%.

Of course there's a 3rd option: those numbers are almost impossible to derive meaning from when compared to each other.

I may get some heat for this but...

People keep talking about how Russell needs to shut it and stop talking in the media. Other than the "We're going to make it to the finals next year" quote that happened at the beginning of the year he hasn't said much other than answering media's questions after the game like everyone else or at the end of practice.

Not sure why we have to keep bringing this up?

Does he look disinterested at times during games, YES. Do I wish he showed more intensity and emotion, YES. But the idea that he talks too much or more than other Lakers players I don't see it and think its unfair to keep criticizing him for this and I've watched every game this year and always make it a point to watch the post game & practice interviews for both Luke and the players.

I think with Russell it's a matter of expectations. And so far he hasn't lived up to them. It could be premature, but that's kind of how it is. I expect some fire and passion from the leader of the team.

He's 20...and you can pretty much sum it up there.

Sure, some players can be more mature at his age, like Ingram or Zubac, but you can't question his talent, and he has it.

Take a look around at most 20 year olds today and they're not far off. A lot of Laker fans are expecting the next Kobe, or for being such a high pick, to be NBA ready out of the gate. That just doesn't happen in the NBA today.

These one and done's are too inexperienced to be expected to do all of the above, and then lead a team? You're always going to be left disappointed if you're expecting a player that is going to be a consistent success at a young age. They're young for a reason.

It's why players from the 80's and 90's were drafted in their junior or senior years, and not based on potentially finding the next talent. We got lucky Jerry found Kobe, but the draft is what it is, a lottery.

Also safe to say Russell plays the majority of his minutes against starters, while Harden played primarily against reserves.

Dunno what to say. I'm not used to having to be super patient with young talent. Trying to keep a level head and remember that players' trajectory isn't a straight line.

And almost anytime a Laker writer compares DLo to other similar PGs drafted around his spot in years past, he stacks up really well at the same age.

It's easy. Get your sh** together or get shipped out.

Trust, Magic and Pelinka aren't going to be as patient as Kupchak. You don't produce; you're gone.

I'm still convinced dlo is going to be a very good to excellent NBA player. I hope it's as a Laker.

That doesn't mean that's a recipe for success. In fact, history is full of failures operating on this principle.

I think you can point to what he says in recent interviews as well.

Like "Julius needs to bring that kind of effort every night."
Like "Julius needs to watch game tape of that game and do that all the time."

Some of his answers to the media along with his social media posts expose that he just has a very immature mind. I'm sure it's a big challenge to have so many young and undeveloped players on the team. Our system should protect teams from having to be babysitters, but it is what it is.

That, and we're spoiled by having all time greats we compare everyone too. I'm sure he'll turn out fine, but fans am tired of sucking and seeing no progress.
