curry or marc gasol (who'd never get it due to lack of sexiness). not sure I'd be considering any others right now. still over 2/3 of a season to go, though. lots can change. I'm guessing the most dynamic player on the west team with the best record gets it. curry looks like he has a good shot.
Michael Smith said today Harden is the front runner. If Harden wins MVP I will lose faith in humanity. I'd rather LeBron win again.
It should be Curry right now. I think most sane people would agree on that. Duncan has been a beast lately though. In the last 6 games... 22.2 ppg 13.2 rpg 2.8 apg 2.7 bpg 1.7 spg 2.3 topg
Yeah Harden's numbers over the last few weeks have been astronomical and with Howard barely playing, Harden is the only reason that team is where they are now. I hate him. I hate his style. But it's working and his team has been successful.
I stand by comments. His style of play with the flopping and running into people and being rearward for it disgusts me. If that style is rewarded with an MVP, ugh. I'd say the same thing if Chris Paul ever won an MVP.
Curry should get the MVP at this point in the season. Davis would be in the conversation if his team had a better record.
I dont know whos gonna keep up the pace at the end, but right now the race is very close. the top 5 players who are playing in high level and are in a team in high form are; Curry, Lowry/Wall, Harden, Aldridge, M Gasol. if you add skill then Lebron and Davis are in the mix.
If the Pelicans win a few more games you gotta give it to Davis. As of now I gotta go with Steph Curry
in any case, I'm guessing 10 years from now, people will look back at this year's mvp like "wtf"? the issue has mostly been that westbrook and Durant have been out, and Cleveland's been meh. if Cleveland takes 1st in the east or if okc surges and gets a top 4 seed in the west, I think you'll see the universe back in order (i.e., a truly elite player gets the mvp, instead of an allstar on a team with a good record). all things considered, I think Anthony davis has been the best player in the nba thus far this year.
Michael Smith, the Clipper color commentator? The one that has no clue what he's talking about half the time?
No, Michael Smith, ESPN reporter, TV show host, and occasional Around the Horn panelist. I agree with some of his opinions, and I find him funny, where I can't listen to the Clippers guy talk at all.
If James Harden wins the MVP shooting 44.1% from the field as that being one of reasons Kobe never got more than one, I will boycott the heck out of that awards from here on out. It was already going down hill but this just tops the list.
especially if he gets it with Houston not finishing with the best record. it's insulting enough that his flopping butt is in the conversation.
