I'dtrade him either for a lotto pick or pkg for pg13....i dont think hes ever going to get it defensively and im not high on nance either, great glue guy but his lack of perimiter O and no ability to create his own shot wouldnt make him a good starter either. We need better from the pf spot
Yeah. I really hope Bird sees it that way. I'd be pretty pleased if our starting 5 next season was Russell/Ball/Ingram/George/?
I think you mean Ball/Russell/Ingram/George But I suspect if we move Randle to Indy in a package for George, we'll also move some other young'ns to give George a teammate that is legally capable of buying themselves an alcoholic drink.
Yeah. As much as I hate to say it, it might be Ingram. Him and George will likely fill similar roles and Ingram could probably fetch us the most.
I don't see his defense as a detriment anymore. He is showing up on both sides since the ASB. His DRtg has improved, as well his stats across the board. 12 pts, 12 reb, 4.4 ast. So versatile. There's no way I trade Julius. He's a core piece of our future.
I think is defense is still an issue although he's showing very marginal growth. I also would trade him for the right player without question, but I think he's cementing himself as the best kid today. Best kid in general? Probably not, but he's doing the best right now. Of course the best kid right now is a sack of crap so it's not saying much. Still, with a triple double today he's got three on the year and that puts him at 6th in the NBA this year. The names above him are Westbrook (30), Harden (15), LeBron (7), and tied are Draymond and Jokic (4). Julius has one more than Antetokounmpo and Cousins. Then there's 14 other players with 1 triple double this year. I think it's reasonable to think he could average 12/10/5 with a steal a game and that would be very impressive. Worth 1/3 of Paul George maybe...
I watched game film. And learned-didded. and I told him to.... Because I'm a leader now. Magic said so.
@therealdeal I think he could do much better. His jumpshot and defense will improve. He's a decent FT shooter and he's shown much better awareness lately so it's only a matter of time. I see him averaging closer to 15/11/6 in his prime. Probably our 3rd or 4th best player if we want to contend. He's not the exact same type of player Draymond is but I think he'll be similar in value to our team.
Someone needs to teach him how to set proper screens though. Those hand off sequences make me cringe every time.
Actually he's setting better screens lately, but they're markedly better when he doesn't have the ball to start the play. And hey he's been doing it all year and the refs have stopped calling it. It's the type of thing the Warriors get away with on a consistent basis.
Hey, he's getting away with those screens so more power to him. And like realdeal said he's gotten better at his screens without the ball as well. That's one of the areas he's improved, as well as doubling his assists this season being utilized more in the Draymond Green and Odom rolls. He's improved his control too and is better at finishing under the hoop than last year. Overall he's shown the most growth of the kids by doing those things and improving his shooting from 43% to a respectable 48% and raising his scoring average to 13 ppg. That said, yes, I'd be willing to move him for the right piece as I would any of the kids.
ESPN says Julius is the youngest kid in Laker history to have 3 Triple Doubles in a single season. I feel like Magic should have done it before him, but maybe not.
