It was just bad coaching; his rotations have been a question mark all season. Additionally, If I remember correctly, it's what GS fans used to complain about when he was filling in for Kerr...
A little to Popovich-Ian. We don't have the system down well enough to go 9 deep with everyone averaging 27 minutes and be effective. The young guys need the floor more.
Outside of the rotations, Luke has done a really nice job, actually. His attitude, demeanor, leadership, are very good; his knowledge of X's and O's far surpasses any of his previous predecessors, IMO. We're sitting 19-37, already better than last year, and if we had any semblance of good health this season, we'd be closer to 33-35 wins.
Not sure about the 33-35 with health. I think we're at 24 with good health. This team is deep. What I mean by deep is there isn't much of a drop off between the starters and bench (it's actually an upgrade at times). We have pretty evenly distributed talent across our top 10. We should have been able to absorb our injuries better than even the top teams in the league. I like Luke. He's a great coach. But there are some attitude problems on this squad that stem from some serious millennialism in a couple guys and bad habits from prior seasons. They seem to be a bit better lately, but they are still there. If there was one injury that killed us, it was Nance. I don't care what the boxscore says, he is our best player. Not most talented...but our best player. I don't think he will stay our best player (I mean, God I hope not), but he does so much for us and infects our team with positive energy.
I love it. Warrior fans complaining about rotations when they're like 40-1. Obviosuly no bandwagon, fairweather fans in that group.
I like Nance. I hope his body can hold up, but I agree with you, that hurt our team. I think we'll finish off the season strong, though.
I do too. I called a win streak of 8ish games at some point this year and I still think that'll happen. It may lose us the pick, but in some ways I think it's at least equally important that the kids we have figure out ways to win as it is we keep the he pick. Our schedule eases up now and we're relatively healthy. Time to improve.
And messing around with Susie behind Bill's back. Meh ..... your son is doing well. Has come a long way from his Puke days.
I honestly don't care about the pick. It'd be nice, but we are so freaking young, at some point we have to leave the "stockpile young assets" phase of the rebuild. I think we can now officially add Zubac to our "young core" as well. We have Zubac, Black, Nance, Randle, Russell, Ingram, and Clarkson. I think a nice 8 game win streak would be invaluable to them. They need to break out out of the habits of the past years where one win was such a big deal that they feel like they can relax for a few games.
lou seems like a real security blanket for coaches. i guess i can see it, but filmroom's clips really showed the difference between lou and dlo running the offense. just huge. and i agree that not having nance and russell for significant stretches has impacted the win total. not to playoff contention, but probably to the point where nobody's talking tank.
Coaches have to grow into their role the same as players. Rotations are one of the hardest parts of coaching. Seemingly great coaches make up for bad rotations by being blessed with incredible talent. Phil had mystifying rotations to most people. As players develop Luke will look better and better.
