Fans. We're the best! We pay our good hard-earned money to watch Millionaires play a game for fun and entertainment. When they suck or don't bring the effort night in and night out, we are merciless and let them have it. But if you do your thang, the adoration from millions of fans is unending.
eh, when you pull disappearing acts like his, you deserve it. play with force. find ways to make your presence felt, even if you're not scoring. randle simply doesn't consistently do this. i notice nance's absence more, tbh.
Never quite understood the Laid an Egg term to define s***ty play. What is so negative about laying an egg? Isnt that giving birth or something?
And yet he has shown more progress than Russell and Clarkson this season. I'm not bashing those kids either when they're not on the floor because they need that time on the floor to develop. Randle of the three disappointing young men leaves more out on the floor even if he's not the most talented of them. People are just going to hate I guess. Oh well.
Honestly we can all agree when dlo or randle or Ingram etc are engaged and focused we know that they are not busts, they all have star potential, it's just a matter of patience with these guys, the problem with us Lakers fans... We have ZERO patience.
While I agree that some Laker fans could stand to have more patience and express less hate when something goes wrong, by the same token some Laker fans could also stand to have a little more objectivity and not assume that just because a young player was drafted high that he is destined for greatness. Not saying that is happening here but it's more of an observation in a broad sense.
1. he had a lot further to go. 2. clarkson's already what, 24? i'm not sure one should expect increased productivity. and i disagree regarding randle's effort level. it's wildly inconsistent, just like russell's.
I agree with Real that we are harder on Randle than we probably should be, but I agree with abeer3 on his effort. It is very inconsistent. His effort level is high when he is trying to score or where he can maybe get in a position to score (ie offensive board). If the game is going even the least bit crummy, he stops playing defense almost completely. Clarkson does the same thing. It just seems like Russell, Clarkson and Randle are concerned with doing whatever it takes to make their boxscores look pretty. Like the purpose of playing basketball is to personally score 20 points and get 10 of something else (blocks or assists). I honestly like their talent, and Mitch can't really be faulted for drafting ANY of our guys where he did. The only one we can say he "missed" on was Porzingis over Russell and even then, no one on this board wanted him and no GM in the league would have likely made that move. But the thing that you can't figure out in the short time you have to decide on drafting someone is who they are as a person. It's looking like in the cases of Russell and Randle, we may have the wrong guys. Not from a talent perspective, but just as a "guys to build around" perspective.
1. Does it matter? He still has. 2. Clarkson has regressed. It's one thing to plateau, it's another to get worse. It's even another after a big contract and all of this makes his age something to note. Randle's effort is inconsistent, that's true. His effectiveness is very dependent on his effort because he's not as talented as the others. And yet I still find his effort, if not his impact, is still greater than the other kids. If Randle's effort is inconsistent, what does that make Russell's? Or Jordan's? Or anyone other than Tarik or Larry?
