Houston dropped out according to Woj. They've given up @abeer3 .

    The deal is set:

Boston in: Jae Crowder, Brandan Wright, Jameer Nelson, 2015 1st, and 2015 2nd.
Dallas in: Rajon Rondo and Dwight Powell.

    Rondo/Ellis/Parsons/Nowitzki/Chandler ... That is a great lineup.

That is as great a line up I've seen lately. Any reports on if the lakers offered anything?

The Lakers made a few offers:

    1. Nash/Pick for Rondo
    2. Hill/1st for Rondo
    3. Nash/combination of picks
    4. The C Bags demanded out Top 5 pick if we got it. Lakers said no.

They could deal with their crappy package they received then...I wish them another 50 years of irrelevance.

At least we tried. We unfortunately have no assets to make any trade.

Neither did Dallas, but they got the player. Ainge just didn't want us to have Rondo.

At least their package of players and picks are better than ours.

yeah, if the lakers weren't willing to fork over their good pick, they didn't have anything to offer. I'm surprised Houston bowed out. they must think they have dragic in the bag. that's risky, imo. they're not good enough to win it all right now, and rondo qualifies as the third star morey's been chasing. put it this way: I don't think he'll get as good a player as rondo--via trade or FA--in the next calendar year. this is why I thought he'd eventually just outbid the mavs.

The Lakers didn't have that pick to give. It belonged to Phoenix. And if they wanted it in the summer if/when we lucked into a Top 5 pick, why would we THEN trade it for Rondo? Doesn't make sense.

And I still very much disagree their package was better than Hill/1st/2nd. I don't agree with that.

not shocked he didn't go to LA, the lakers simply don't have anything good enough to offer if they weren't willing to part ways with their 1st rounder. i'd rather they keep that pick anyways seeing that it's looking like the lakers will finish in the bottom 5 and the fact that rondo probably wouldn't re-sign in LA anyways makes it seem like not trading for him was the better option

dallas does look very scary now though. they'll definitely contend with the spurs

Of course Danny Ainge helping another C bag get a chance to win his 2nd NBA Championship as a head coach. It's a trend. Kevin McHale helped Ainge by giving them Kevin Garnett when Lakers had a better deal. Now it's Ainge's turn to help another C bag, Rick Carlisle.

hmmm...I didn't think they could, but then I kept reading that they could, so I bought it. anyway, further solidifies the point about the lakers having a bare cupboard.

as for hill/wright...really depends on what you want, or in boston's case, who you think might have more trade value in February. wright's contract is smaller, and he has a couple elite skills.

and yes, it being the lakers was probably an issue if all other things were considered equal. I'm sure la would do it to them, too. this is nowhere near as upsetting to me as the kg deal. thought the lakers clearly had the better offer then, and i think time proved that they did.

Great move by dall, rond will fit perfectly, 3 very good shooters and rim protector. If they stay healthy they definetly the contendors,if they were in east i would say they are lock for the big final, but in west any team that comes out will need a lot of luck too, there are so many good teams, and who knows who might also pop out before the trade deadline.

Dirk is now the lowest paid player in the starting lineup.

    So via Woj:

So basically, Boston won't get to use Dallas' pick until 2016 unless Dallas somehow manages to become a 4-14 lottery team. Is Ainge stupid or what?

Even the Houston pick we would've sent them is better than that.

What was the loophole in being able to trade Hill even though he had a no trade clause?
