When Russell can't score, he's useless out on the floor. Shows how one-dimensional his game is. Even if his shots aren't falling, I'd like to see him help the team by hussling, defending, rebounding, playmaking.... do something.

Do you have access to the Lakers practice gym? do you stay outside the Toyota Center seeing who driving in and who doesn't?

I'm guessing the answer to these questions is no. So how in the world can we or really anyone on here say he isn't putting in the work? We can only go off of what we've been told from Luke and the coaching staff and everything they have said about Russell and Randle is that they are either at practice before getting up shots and or after getting in extra work in.

I'm a little tired of people saying stop talking and start working. How many months or years are people going to use that on Russell where he said he thinks we'll to be in the Finals next year. Last I checked he hasn't said that again recently. He was foolishly optimistic when he said that, but lets not act like he keeps bringing that up because he's not.

I'm not a Russell homer by any means. His play as of late has been absolutely atrocious, but from the quotes again last night he's agreed that he's been Sh***.

    Just let this play out...

I'm actually pretty surprised my statement got a reaction. I thought it was a pretty straight forward.

If someone isn't trying their hardest, that's bad.

That and I see players recognizing what they are doing wrong, but I see very little progress during games. The team, not just DLO, are making the same mistakes over and over again. So yea either, the effort isn't always there, or players just aren't talented, or both. Keep in mind, I don't have solutions, i'm just stating what I see as a casual observer and a fan of the team.

LOL. That's beautiful if it actually gets seen by her with her soon to be wielded or threatened one last time before wielding ..... "hammer". Do you have any indication or way of knowing if Jeanie has you blocked?

No kidding. His talent is so obvious but the maturation process is too frustrating.

Long term I think DAR's great for us but not the leader Luke wants. I think Luke should groom Ingram for that slot. DAR does not command authority and can't rally the troops. He's gone a little too solo at the ends of close games rather than keeping us together and rallying the defense. BI has a more selfless game just like when Luke used to play that point forward slot for us along with Odom. Both need to grow a lot in that respect but I think BI is ahead of the curve in that regard and has a higher ceiling compared to DAR. Let DAR be what he appears to be, a good combo guard but not a leader.

^Ingram doesn't have the alpha personality to "rally the troops". Russell does have the characteristics but lacks the maturity.

Randle would have to be that guy but IMO his ceiling is not as high. There aren't that many Chris Pauls und LeBrons out there to lead anyway. Even guys like Durant or Curry aren't exactly perfect leaders.

Both DAR and Julius need to bounce back after a terrible week ...

If they can't respond well after being benched , it's time to be worried and don't give me the " they're young , it takes time" crap

Not what I meant by ceiling. I mean as a leader. You're talking about talent ceiling. Fisher was our leader and was maybe the least talented guy on the floor night and and out. True Ingram is too young to display a "rally the troops" type of thing yet, he's still carrying in the luggage bags. He can still be groomed with eye on that because we don't yet know if he'll be a good leader or not. He has the selfless characteristic in his game though and can initiate an offense already and run it as well as anyone on the team. DAR could very well not mature for years or mature and still not be a good leader, that's no guarantee, it's not the only quality needed. Some players just can't do it.

Good point on Fisher being a leader.

Out of this bunch, I feel that only Randle has the personality and "edge" to become a leader. Ingram is a bit too quiet and subdued.

I agree he has the edge, he goes up against Walton already, that could be good and it could be bad. He also seems to love Luke so maybe it's just his strong will. I think he needs a little more seasoning to balance out.

Don't give up on tiny dog yet, I'm telling ya there's a soul in there somewhere.
