very shocked by this they were playing very well before cousins was sidelined. and it seems like he was going to return soon anyways so i'm not sure why they did this. although cousins is pretty much their entire team anyways. still not sure why they would make this move right now though
This came out of nowhere, like others have said, they've been playing really well. Let's see who they hire.
I mean sure, but they've said they won't hire a coach during the middle of the season. I just think it's dumb to fire a guy due to a win/loss record when your team's best player contracts meningitis and has to sit out for a while. Seems unfair. Apparently the FO never liked this guy though, so this was a long time coming.
I haven't been entirely impressed by Malone, but the timing is odd. the kings aren't underachieving. had they fired him prior to the season, I wouldn't have blinked.
From what I have gathered from watching TV today, he was fired because their owner thinks he knows basketball when he doesn't. He's gotten them to a better record than us with Cousins missing quite a few games. But, their owner made a rash and unfair decision IMO. Also was mentioned today that this owner actually wants them to play 4 on 5 on defense so one guy can cherry pick on offense because it worked when he did it while coaching his daughter's basketball team.
This is utterly ridiculous and totally unfair. They were doign quite well when Cousins was playing, and then he randomly goes down for like 11 games, and they go on a slide and the coach gets fired? Unreal. I don't trust the owner at all...he thinks he knows basketball but he doesn't know crap. 4 on 5? Unreal. I would love to see them try that. I will laugh so hard when they get blown out eveyr night.
sounds like they were looking for a reason been a coaching carousel for many years there since Adelman left wonder who they get....
