Wow, I never thought about it like that. When there is a proposal to raise taxes on the wealthy the "No" campaign will say things like the revenue will be used inefficiently or that a lot of the money will actually go towards special interests. I'll typically vote yes anyways because I figure I'm not going to be wealthy enough to be affected and at least some of the money will go to a good cause. What these ad campaigns really should bring up is that an increase in state taxes for the wealthy might end up playing a factor in discouraging a potential free agent from signing with the Lakers! I'm only half joking lol. I think that could actually sway my vote
fyi, i read that non LA players do get taxed california rates when they do play in LA, every athlete gets taxed per game differently depending on the state they're playing in that day
That surtax is no joke to them at their salary levels and it's on TOP of already the highest rate in the country, I think? Sure doesn't help us at all.
Tania Ganguli @taniaganguli Nov 22 Mentioned Lakers asst (formerly with OKC) Brian Keefe to Russell Westbrook, and his face lit up. Called him an "unbelievable coach."
I like that Luke knows he and his coaching staff need to get better in certain instances. Some coaches that I know of would never call themselves out for anything.
Coach is close to going off on the refs Not that I would mind seeing it, but who needs technical fouls lol? Yeah, better him than the players.
Major props. I was really worried about the loss of chemistry if we gutted the bench because of these injuries. I was a bit worried when I saw who we were starting, but I love that he saw this solution and that it worked.
I was out of town for the holiday weekend and was unavailable online like I normally am, but Luke has gotten to the point where compliments are just not enough. This guy can freakin coach and the Lakers hit 2 jackpots this off season. I dont even know what to say anymore. I knew the GS games were losses, there is just too much talent there. Even with that, the resolve of this team having a guy in the starting lineup who has played for 6 teams in 5 years, a guy who was all but dead in the league and now has been playing like an all star in Nick Young, Dlo and JR out, and so on and so on. Just watching the Atlanta game right now, catching up to all the games while I was gone, his second quarter adjustments after the Hawks scored 32 points in the first, man, I just don't know what to say anymore. So excited for Laker games and for the future.
Gosh I love listening to Luke. So smart to start Robinson to leave Bench in tact and he's not understanding at all how our upcoming road trip makes any sense..... My favorite part of his post game press conference was when he was talking about how the lineup in the 4th quarter has got to continue to run their sets and not just rely on high pick and roll. It worked this game because we had a nice margin but in a close game you have to run more of what Luke and his staff have been trying to implement.
Agree. Luke is a treat to listen to and he's so open with his feelings about these guys and how hard they're working and sacrificing for winning games. Great interview post game. I'm just getting to it now and heard him say what I mentioned earlier ... that the 2nd unit because they were playing so well played more minutes that the starters. But when he looked at his starters down the bench 2 or 3 of them said leave those guys in (they're killing it). They know it will be different guys on different nights stepping up, and they're bought into it. And how he was so happy to be able to give T. Robinson a start and some minutes. And Nick being money all year with hitting Big shots and getting the crowd into it. Compared to Brown with his head down in his game stats for answers to the press's questions, mush mouth and smart a** D'antoni, and complete a-hole and blame throwing everywhere else Scott. Hell he's more fun than Phil even. Phil was always so smug and would never be that open, though of course he was a master in his own way with the press.
