Bad lineup decision to start the 2nd half , didn't give the team the best chance to win a very winnable one imo .......
Rookie head coach learning along with his players. Sometimes easy to forget this with how well we've been playing.
High praise from one of the all time greats: Michael C. WrightESPN Staff Writer Spurs coach Gregg Popovich summing up Friday night's win over the Lakers: "I thought we played well for the first 10 minutes, and then we went to sleep like they were going to give us the game. Luke's done a great job of making them believe and playing aggressively, and you can really see it. They came back and stuck it to us. So in the second half, we had a good third quarter like we wanted to win the game. We got after it, and executed. But I am just so impressed of what [Luke Walton] has done with this group."
In other words, they used to really suck, but it's amazing what you can do with a decent coach and talent.
Seriously...with the brutal schedule the NBA has given us to start the season (WTF!!!), The fact that we're a game above .500 given our roster and the expectations....it's truly remarkable what Luke has done thus far. If Lakers make the playoffs, Luke has to be the UNANIMOUS coach of the year.
Did anyone think Luke should've made a change last night in the 4th? Aldridge absolutely dominated us on at least 4 straight possessions late in the 4th. We were close to making our comeback but Aldridge was unstoppable. Thought Luke stayed small too long. Should've brought in a true big to pressure Aldridge. A couple of kick outs into missed shots that led to fast breaks could've really helped us. Randle got scored on at least 3 times. Not his fault, Aldridge is good. But Luke didn't even order a double team. 1-1 coverage for Aldridge cost us.
He's learning along with the team, so I think he's made several potential errors as a super young head coach. However, he's made such an overall drastic improvement to the team, and the culture, it feels like nitpicking. IMHO, he's earned a lot of rope and grace before anything negative needs to be said.
Luke learning from Kerr wants to put the best talent lineup he can (offensive squad) to win the game, which may lead to us being undersized. Honestly we played really hard D that game, the spurs are just that good offensively
Starting to drive me insane with how Luke doesn't deviate away from the set points he has players come in and out of games. It's ok to bring some players back in sooner than normal, especially when the crew on the floor is doing poorly.
we are 7-7 lol, no one in his right mind would have predicted this, I would take what Luke has and will do this season with no judgment whatsoever
